![]() Tom's CNS is better than steroids Member 2886, 2973 posts SQ 190, BP 122.5, DL 210522.5 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | Sorry if you were expecting me to spot Walker. Didn't have time to get to the gym in the end. 15-10-2012 No gym today. First MMA session, was only cardio but pretty sick. A lot of circuits, just rolling about punching bags gave my body knocks so i have a lot to get used to. Enjoyed it though so BJJ/groundwork on Wednesday. My week will now be Strength training and MMA work alternate days with maybe one day off a week. One of the drills was to take it in turns doing this trip takedown thing with a partner. They all made it look easy but when me and my mates tried we just stumbled about lol. Luckily I'm 25kg heavier than my mate, who also is new, so just lunging at him got him down ![]()

I had a glance because the toilet is through the gym area. Looked ok. Pretty old school, i would imagine some pretty strong guys probably train there. I know some top BBers used to. Can't see any 'tan n abs' boys going either Very small compared to lifestyle though, 1 of everything, so might be annoying at peak times.

Squats Did these belt-less with a slow descent and no bounce following some advice i received in my 180kg squat vid. Felt pretty good, hard work staying tight without belt which probably says i should keep it up. Barx5 60x5 80x5 100x3 120x3 140x3x3 Bench Did these slow and controlled with pretty much flat back Barx5 40x5 60x5 70x3 80x3 90x3x3 Deadlifts I don't understand this lift at all it seems like i alternate between feeling strong and PBing or doing absolutely s**t. Could be because i squatted first but that'd just mean my conditioning was s**t. 70x3 120x3 150x3 170x3 190xFAIL As i said 2 DL sessions ago... WTFTWTFTTDTDTTETD i could pull this before i improved my technique. Anyway i think i have a lot to learn still with deads so ill go for less weight and focus on speed next time.

Really interesting and fun, i can imagine it taking 1000's of practices on each move to really nail it though. He just showed us some basic arm bars/ chokes and gave us a few pointers on how your body should be when on the ground. The 'rolling' the experienced guys were doing looked awesome. Just ate about 800 kcals of Nutella i need to stop buying it.

As long as you enjoy it that's all that counts. Don't worry either about how long it takes to get belts etc either. Who cares? BJJ is difficult to pick up. Some people are more natural than others. Some can learn things twice as fat as others. Just enjoy the process and put in the time. It takes me ages to learn moves. Just drill the very basics until you have them down. Most people never get a black belt as they give up. On average those who do get one only get it after 7-10+ years. Those who have pre-experience i.e. Judo may learn it quicker. I have no belt in anything. Belts are only good for holding up your trousers and strangling people with. Cheers Nick. Stand up work on Saturday. Looking forward to trying some takedowns. Do you train BJJ or are you just on with Muay Thai at the moment? f**king going through the arm bars in my head and forgetting already ![]()

I don't even know which work is classed as wrestling and which is BJJ? ![]() I take it wrestling is all the transitions and takedowns and the BJJ is purely submissions/ controlling with limb positioning? Such a noob haha. Must go to bed now to get my 6 hours sleep!
