Learn those two moves I gave you. Do them every day for two weeks... no more than 15 mins a day!! Once you can do those i'll give you another two moves.

Will do Sir!!! cheers!

19-10-12

Plan today was a full beltless session focusing on pauses at the bottom of squats and slow controlled reps/ technique improving.

Front Squats and Squats. All with 2 second pauses

Front squats: Barx5
Front squats: 60x5
Front squats: 80x5
Front squats: 100x5

Back squats: 120x5

Front squat: 120x1

Back squats 120x5

Afew PBs technically as i don't usually do paused work/ beltless.

Felt very strong as i focused on keeping tight. No big weights but it felt really productive and should help when i go back to normal squats.

Overhead

These felt awesome and current PB was repped easy. I THINK working front squats first really helps with push press as the weight felt light and easy to pop up.

Push press upto 80x3x3

Jerked 90k

AND THEN... A few friends came in so i ended up chatting for 10 mins. Went back to the rack and all momentum was lost. Struggled Push pressing 80 again and jerking 90.
Was really feeling good for 90-100 push press and 100+ jerk aswell before they interrupted. Balls.

So i learnt psychology and mindset plays a big part... Also didn't psych myself up before reps like usual. Just really focused and it felt better!

Well that sounds super weird like I've had some sort of spiritual awakening.
What i meant was

1. I shouldn't Psych up
2. PP a lot easier after handling Front squats
3. Don't break off when having a good run
4. Slow squats down and concentrate on form

First MMA Striking/ Takedown session.

Went through different drills which included punches, kicks, takedowns, GnP, transitions.

Did some stood up sparring which i was pretty s**t at lol, failed to hit him really other than a few body shots.

I did get a comment on my kicks being pretty solid though.

At the end we did 5 mins each of staying in guard on the ground and GnPing each other. Being on the bottom was KNACKERING AS s**t... By 3 mins in i was just taking punches to the head i didn't have the energy to grab him at all. I actually felt dazed after a few shots he got on me Tongue

All good fun, although i think my right pinky is fooked can't bend it back and hurts when i apply pressure.

kirkynick said:Hell, you're already into GnP

How do you think you did your finger? From punching?
Any type of grappling is knackering... something most people don't realise.

Yeh they kinda just give you the same s**t as the experienced guys to do with bits of advice as you do it Tongue

It really is tiring. More than the actual cardio workout I'd say. Must be because it's all new movements.

I don't know i felt it after the first drill which was only light punches into the partners block with a takedown. I just powered on though.
Could have landed on it funny maybe? Ah well

Are you wearing wraps and/or MMA gloves or what?
Have you been told how to form a proper fist and which knuckles to land punches on?

I've always been taught to land punches only on the first two knuckles, but there are different views on this.

You will take knocks and bruises along the way, but keep at it! After one year, you will be feeling quite confident.

No i thought they'd say a little more about the punching but they didn't. Gimme a youtube vid Wink

I borrowed a pair of boxing gloves which they said were f**ked and were like getting punched with a bare fist hahah. I'm ordering my own asap though. No wraps.

What are their qualifications for teaching MMA etc?

Dunno actually. Probably none Grin

They're really welcoming and they have a few good fighters so it's a cool place to train, one's going for a British title next month. It's a fairly small group. 8-12 per class usually.

I don't know how these clubs usually run.

Stagnant Journal this week sorry! (If anyone cares).

The martial arts has been making my body ache like f**k to the point of hardly been able to weight train.

Hopefully this will pass in a few weeks once Im used to all the new muscles being worked.
(Ass and Hamstrings mainly not sure what's causing it, some form of ground work i think Tongue )

Was meant to be doing grappling but all my friends who i vehicle with pulled out (think they're giving up after only 2 sessions lol) I'm enjoying it so far. They haven't even done a strikes sessions which was by far the toughest.
