I have NEVER cleaned more than 115 on an axle, f**king hate the thing

I cleaned 122.5 axle a couple of sessions ago - but it wasn't exactly a thing of beauty!! If I'd cleaned the 125 today I'm confident the press would have been comfy.

I can get a good flick from the legs when pressing a bar/axle. I can't get much leg drive into a log press though.

I struggled out of bed, despite being shattered from work, because I'd arranged to introduce 2 guys to strongman event training. They both did very well. Here's what I did...

LOG

This was CRAP CRAP CRAP today, and not a good demo! My timing was all wrong. Total mess!

80 - clean & 3 strict presses (warm-up)
100 - clean & 1 strict press
110 - 2 full reps
110 - 1 full rep, failed 2nd (press)
110 - 1 full rep, failed 2nd (press)
115 - failed press

TYRE

Several demo flips, including an easy set of 5 reps. I think my endurance is starting to improve. The 5 reps didn't puff me out at all.

STONES

Several demo lifts with 110 stone (no tacky)

MEDLEY

110(?) keg carry over 20 metres, 2 flips of tyre, 110 stone load.

Did this once. Again, felt an improvement in my endurance, although the stone load at the end was tough.

"CONAN'S WALK" (that's what we call it)

Carried a 155Kg metal cylinder cradled in the arms over the required distance - approx 15 metres - with one turn.

Did a couple more tyre flips at the end of the session.

Both guys I trained with put in a great effort. Both of them flipped the tyre. One of them pressed 90 on the log and eventually loaded the 110 stone. They both did well with 80Kg farmer's (my back was too sore to do farmer's today), and both managed a few steps with the Conan's walk. They want to make this a weekly occurrence.

Should have been better though. It was a technical mess! I think it was a combination of tiredness and "Will Sanderson outdoors/indoors syndrome"!!! I ususally train log indoors, but took it outside today. When it was on my chest I was looking at the sky and this threw my balance!

Today...

PUSH PRESS

warmed up to...

100 - power clean & 2 push presses
110 - power clean & 2 push presses
120 - continental clean & 2 push presses
130 - continental clean & failed press.

These put a lot of strain on my wrists! Getting 130 up to my chest was a PB in itself.

SQUATS (raw)

60 x 4
100 x 2
140 x 2
180 x 1
205 x 2
205 x 1
205 x 1

The squats with 205Kg were beautiful - very deep and good solid form! Very pleasing. Next week I'll do a raw PB of 210.

Had a quick play with PLATE PINCHING, but left hand didn't want to know.

STRICT LOG

This was unplanned, but a couple of guys were training log, so I jumped in for a couple of sets.

90 - clean & 4 strict presses
90 - clean & 4 strict presses.

Just had great session!!

POWER CLEANS

70 - few
100 x 1
110 x 1
110 x 1
112.5 x 1 - flew up!
115 x 1 - PB!

LOG (clean on 1st rep only)

80 x 4 (strict) - warm-up
100 x 1 (strict)
110 x 4 - why couldn't I do that in Guildford comp??!
120 x 1

FARMER'S WALK

120 per hand - pick-up only
150 per hand - approx 18 metres! - PB!

Very pleased with everything today. I think I'll rest now for UK's (or shall I squat on Monday??!). My mission for the UK's is - to prove I'm strong enough to be there. Today's session has given me more confidence that I can do that.
