Its been a bit of a mixed year for me, at the start of the year i managed to squat 390 in comp, i broke the 300kg bench barrier with 302.5 at the British bench champs.and moved my dead on a little with 320 in comp.

It all went a little wrong at the GBPF senior champs when i bombed on the squat, then tore my tricep warming up on bench (happened at only 190 raw, this all so caused a flare up or a previous elbow tendon problem) this has left me limited to a 200kg raw bench over the last few months.

But i have been enjoying mixing up my training with some Olympic lifting. and hope to compete again next year (may be raw).

Started off the year with high hopes , picked up a nasty chest infection mid january that I couldnt shake off and meant I had to pull out of celtic carnage the night before , finally felt better mid February only to go and herniate a disc attempting a deadlift pb , spent a month pretty much on the couch and thought ( on doctors advice) that my strongman career was over before it had really started , think I started back in the gym around april time and slowly got some level of strength back , put my name down for the junction gym sizzler just to have something to aim for , only managed to get two event sessions in before the comp but just happy to be competing , came 9th out of 12 and couldnt have been happier , spent the last 6 months focusing on gym lifts and its paid dividends , broke my dead pb in november and gonna pull 300 on the 24th to round the year off , competing at Wales strongest man 2013 and really excited to see what next year brings , so bit of an up and down year but more good than bad Happy

Chuck in a paragraph about your year.

I REGRESSED a lot in 2 weeks in January, knocking off 60kg from my deadlift, 60 from my squat and a fair bit off my bench.

Managed to sort of move away from heavy heavy squats week in, week out (or weak in weak out as the case may be now) and now I'm sort of training for strongman properly.

Strength has come back somewhat, and I now know what's moving my nnumbers up. I've been consistent in my training and figured out a few things about my diet - mainly how to get a s**tload of kcals down in one go.

Won Northern England's strongest man u105 then had to take a break, then did Salt ayre classic last minute and won the open class. Spent most of the year mincing about with my training with little focus and generally doing other things and having a bit more fun.

Looking forward to doing some comps next year and having a good crack again.

2012 has been all about personal life. The most stressful and emotionally difficult year of my life (not all in a bad way). I only competed once this year - the Midland's u105. In my mind it was going to be my last comp, but I performed solidly and it made me half change my mind. We'll see. I certainly won't be competing any time soon. Life is crazy at the moment. I currently have no time to train (literally zero), so I'm taking my minimalistic approach to the absolute extreme! Happy

The mincing about didn't seem to do you any harm judging by the SA Classic win!

Enjoyed 2012.

Won EPF Europeans @ 83
Won GBPF British @ 83
Broke the British squat record @ 83 (330.5kg)
7th @ IPF Worlds @ 83 (bit gutted with that, got well and truly spanked)
Broke British squat record again though 332.5kg
Broke Squat(340),bench(245)and Total(880) records at 93. Happy with that.

As for next year, will lift at a few comps at 93. Will make a decision on the Europeans in march as to which weight class.
Would be good to win a Europeans in two weight categories. But they are strong mothers!
Short term targets
Squat 360@93
Bench 255 @ 93
Deadlift 320 @ 93

Gonna give the Russian stimulation a good crack as well, the research is all wallet positive regarding strength gains, just hurts like a b**ch and your quads feel like they will explode.

It's been a great year, well 6 months.

Having done no real training I entered Bristols Strongest Man back in July. With only a few weeks to learn I met 3 great blokes who I still train with now Happy
I came 3rd in my first comp Grin
Not long after I entered the Muscle Inc Summerslam comp and with 1 really messed up event (the one I expected myself to do really well at) I came 4th Happy

Been learning loads, progressing a little (it's harder to progress at 34!!).

Looking forward to 2013 Happy

2012 not been too bad.
Did 2 comps
20th Northern 105s, near the bottom but pb'd pretty much every event so can't complain.
11th at Salt Ayre Classic, goal was to one day come in top half of a comp so done that (and didn't fall over when doing farmers this year Happy )

In terms of lifting goals for 2012
Wanted to get 220 without wraps, currently done 215
Wanted 140 bench which I got near start of year
Wanted 250kg deadlift and managed 250 x 3 at SAS Classic
Wanted 100kg log so I could do opener at northerns and got 110 on the day

Lifting goals for 2013
240 squat with or without wraps
150 bench
280 deadlift
130 log

Comp goals, none really, do a few more, enjoy them and put in good performance and a top 10 would be nice
