AvatarNeil
Nice to meet you again Rick, bloody shame about that DL but... you know!
AvatarWigan
By all accounts some excellent lifting this weekend Rick, praise from all corners, lets just forget about the uneven grip issues... schoolboy error!! Well done mate a good days work!!!
philnosko
Nice one Rick. Like Martin said, you should smash 600kgs next time Wink
AvatarJC
Excellent 1st equipped comp mate. Not too far off 600KG total at all. Great lifting buddy
AvatarRick
Thanks guys! 600 should definitely go next time. And if I can pin everything together the way I did on my last bench, there should be a bit more there too!

Jo - I love my knee wraps, well worth the extra faff getting changed etc for that alone! In all seriousness the only big difference from my perspective with the equipped meet was having to time starting to get dressed for each squat - something I struggled with at first as BDFPA Rick was before me in each of the first two rounds on the same weight, is raw, and lifts very fast, so I was nearly late out twice. Third time I was ready in good time.

I will do raw bench meets in future but whether I'll do more raw full power ones, I don't know - my knees will have to decide. (Especially with the training runup to them being in the depths of winter when my knees are at their worst!)

Wiggers - thanks for that mate, but it was a schoolboy error and I'm likely to be irritated by it for quite some time. Hey ho.
AvatarMartin1956
Yes, you were nearly timed out on either your first or second squat. You started it with 5 seconds to spare! I wouldn't have done it to you in a divisional, of course, there's a little bit of leeway to be applied sometimes, but it's just good to get the timing right because at the next level up there's zero leeway, of course. I know I only bench, but I always aim to be ready to go when the guy before me is called. Belted, wrist straps, the lot.

Wednesday 11th June, Adlington

Just easing back in after the comp. Pete arrives within minutes of me as arranged, we are joined by Adlington Mark and John F, plus the two young 'uns. Pete and I decide we'll do some singles together.

Bench
20x20
20x20
40x8
70x5
100x3
110x2
120x1
130x1
140x1
150x1 incredibly easy
160 fail, cocked it up on the descent as per usual on near-limit weights. Still *nearly* got it, I think. Pete got it, just.
142.5x4 PB and failed the hoped-for fifth. Didn't go on the board, as a failed five, but counts in my heart Wink.

Raw strength is definitely all still there after this shirted interlude, though the stamina is down a little - four reps felt like cardio!

Down on friday for some light volume and to get loose. Lots of good chat with Pete and home, happy enough.

Good session, Rick.
