What about a pint or so of milk. It's high in tryptophan which is known to induce sleep. I'd be pretty wary of any of the shelf meds before a big comp just in case.

Anything thats a neural inhibitor would work to relax you before bedtime, chelated magnesium found in Kineticas ZMA should do the trick!!
I use it every night and sleep like a little baby!

slightly off topic but i've been horrendously ill this weekend and took some paracetomol and throat lozenges. Didn't realise how twitchy i am about not accidentally taking s**t into me, the fact that it was all sainsburys basics might have added to the fear.

A beer and 30 mins watching tv used to help me go to sleep after working in the kitchen on a heavy night.

Zopiclone, nothing else mentioned in here works for me, but 7.5mg of this has me asleep wherever I happen to be lay half an hour after taking it, I usually wake up after a very deep 6-7 hours sleep feeling far more refreshed than if I had 8-9 hours of normal sleep (which never f**king happens!) with absolutely no drowsiness or 'hangover', ready to perform.
