Hi John!

Early morning training tends to be the exception rather than the rule. Mostly train in the afternoons/evenings to be honest. I do shift work, so if I'm on 1-9pm and that falls on a training day, I'll try and get in for 9am. On Saturdays, I start my session at 10-11am.

re power belly..well...ermm. it's there but chiselled with massive ab muscles..honest...col_austin can testify to this, he's seen them and given them an appreciative nod. That's big coming from him.

Squats..60x5x2..80x5..100x4..add belt..120x3..130x3..140x3x3..150x3x2..160x3

Benches..60x5x2..80x5..90x5..100x5x3..102.5x5..105x4

160kg squats were good considering the volume preceding them. The power was there, but technique was not 100% as the residual stiffness from Tursday's heavy deadlifts seemed to force my set up a bit wider then usual. 160x5 would be a true 5 rep max based on today's efforts. That should put me at 190ish for a 1 rep max. One more week on this squat cycle remains and that will see me doing 165x3. I don't expect it to be much of a problem.

Good luck to everyone at the club competing today/tomorrow.

Yesterday: 1.8 mile run

Today: 1.6 mile run.

Am contemplating improving my conditioning. Just want to get a bit leaner. 3 approximate 2mile runs per week on top of my usual barbell work should do the trick.

I did my first 2 comps as an 82.5er. I got stronger but with that I also got fatter. Some crazy part of me is now thinking maybe it's worth making a concerted effort to get back to 82.5kg. I'll have to clean up my diet as well in order to do that and probably quit beer altogether.

I'd be well chuffed if I can maintain this sort of strength at 82kg.
