Olly we posted at the same time. Plan is every week strongman for me for a while.

You are welcome anytime mate. Just let me know.

Tyre will be cool, not sure it'll be cardio though with it weighing in the region of 400k thoughGrin
AvatarCuddles
Good stuff. I'll try and give you some notice when/if I get it arranged.
AvatarSparrow
Boar it's the Unit 20 novice strength challenge in Edinburgh on November 3rd. Events are virtually identical to those at the Arnold Classic (although a tiny, tiny bit lighter). Here are the events:

Axle press - 100kg for reps - 2min time limit. Floor to overhead
Silver dollar deadlift - max weight, starting weight around 200-220kg - 3 attempts - straps allowed
Yoke - 320kg for 10.8m - 75sec limit
Farmers walk - 140kg for 15m - 30 second time limit
Thick handled dumbell (circus dumbell) overhead press - 50kg - max reps - 2mins time limit
Stone over yoke (50" bar) - choose between 115kg and 135kg stone, as many reps as possible in 75 secs. One rep with 135 beats any number of reps with the 115.
Last event - medley - be sick (3 reps), cry in toilet (90 sec time limit), call your Mum (maximum time)

How cool are they!

I've read a bit about depressurising barrels but the one I need to do appears impossible.

OK Olly, see you in a few years thenWink
AvatarBoar
LOL, i fancy a go at the medley !!

For anyone who's interested I want to post a couple of pics of me and Jen from our wedding day and honeymnoon. How do I embed photos in a thread, I can't see the taggy things anywhere?

Joni, the plan on Sunday(s) for me from now on involves no log. Don't see the point as it's an axle and DB press at the comp so will focus on them during the week. So, log and farmers alternated weekly (heavy), a grip event, a medley of some sort and stones. You are welcome to do log though (and knowing me I'd probably just join in and do it anyway!). How does that look to you?

Sounds solid mate. I want to hit the log just because i want that 110 so bad... Axle will follow. When we did both the other week it felt ok, wasnt too much volume at all when we kept it in control with both.

Also i fancy doing some farmers pickups, and of course stone. Pretty open to anything really, though i did want to (try) to keep the volume down due to wanting to max out on squats the following wednesday.

Lazy bas***d! Thanks Jonny.

Joni, of course we can do stones and I'm planning on going heavy on the farmers so in effect we will be doing heavy farmers pickups! Just need to walk with them then.

I will personally be doing all my pressing in the gym as it just fits in better with my routine as I need to press twice per week and do assistance. If I know your coming though and really want to press I'm sure I can sort something out.

27 grand, you think you would have brushed your hair !

ofcourse im jealous as i have resorted to shaving my head.

with 2 perfectly formed humans as you 2 are it would be a crime against mother nature not to have kids.

great pics !
AvatarCuddles
Love the pics!

Especially Jonny Coleman. Get on the sauce and come in at 105kg and 4%. Strongman in style.
Avatarbuzz
Good pics and good plan Jonny. Look forward to seeing how your training goes in the lead up to the comp, I think you're up there as contender for top spot!

I've depressurised barrels before, it's a nasty business. Got sprayed with beer, so if you're going to do it get naked first, it will make it seem like fun. We've just got three new ones too, but I think best plan is to blow the lock out of them and fill them with concrete, which would make them about 120kg or so. There is an article online about how to deal with the badboys, if you want I can hunt it down and post a link?
AvatarRob
Good photos dude, looking in very good shape... slightly worried about the missing sparrow legs though Confused
AvatarSparrow
Joni - for life indeed. Although most people get out after 12 years for good behaviour.

Jonny - I went for the Curly Watts hairstyle as I suit the scruffy bas***d look. Thanks for the kind words though, just don't let Jen read what you read!!!!

Olly, that would be pretty cool wouldn't it? I will if you will. Darren Sadler eat your heart out
