Thanks Ed, the bench and the squat are going well at the moment, I wish I could say the same for my deadlift and my diet.

Yes, I saw that someone calling themselves "littledave" was lurking around the site and i thought then thats got to be Big Dave after what he said at the gym last night. However, you'll always be Big Dave to me Dave.

Friday 1st May.

Only 8 of us tonight, deadlifts with Lurkio and The Banker. Benching with Kev, Big Dave, Blondie and Lurkio. Weighed in at 113.7 kilos.

Deadlift.
5 x 70
5 x 70 Sumo
5 x 120
5 x 120 Sumo
3 x 160
1 x 185
1 x 205
3 x 195 failed, first two okay but the third got stuck at my knees.
3 x 185 failed third lift again.
5 x 160
Not too sure about this, my original plan did not include the 195's, however after the 205 I thought that I would throw in a quick single at 195 before attempting the 185's. However it came up easy so I added a second, that was tough but it was also two thirds of the way towards a 3x PB so I went for the 3rd. It came up okay but there was no strength left in the back and I could not lock it out. Not sure what Old Git and Banker were up to tonight, they only managed about 10 pulls between them before buggering off early.

Bench.

8 x 80
6 x 100
4 x 110
2 x 2 x 115
3 x 110 failed the 4th press.
5 x 100 failed the 6th press.
3 x 6 x 90 Close Grip.
Not too bad, the last press was paused in every set.

I heard from Snerpjo today that he has damaged his wrist, so he will be out of action for around 2 months.

Monday 4th May.

Just 7 of at the Farm today.
Squatting on my own and benching with Big Dave, Garden Bencher, Blonde and Lurkio. Weighed in at 114.6 kilos, sadly still a fat bas***d, one day I will get on these scales and the will say 108.5!!!!!

Squat.

s**t that was tough. These were all good, deep, box free squats, but bloody hell I had to work for them. I do not know why they felt so difficult, this was meant to be an easy session. I'll just put it down to not having eaten anything at all today (with the exception of two cold onion bahjis left over from the weekend).

Bench.

2 x 2 x 115

3 x 5 x 95 Close Grip.
Nothing special, simply closing out the session that I failed to properly complete on Friday. Paused last press on every set.

No training on Wednesday but I'll be having a couple of sessions at the Pontivy Club in Brittany on Friday and Monday evenings. I am still trying to arrange a joint competition or event between them and the Farm, however this is difficult when none of their guy's speak English and I cannot speak French. I'll be back at the Farm on Wednesday 13th.

Back tonight after a week in France, I had intended to get in a couple of sessions at the Pontivy club but on Friday 8th everything in France was shut (some sort of bank holiday) and on the Monday I was too pissed.

Weighed in at 114.3K, a little lighter than before I left but still too heavy. Ten or Eleven of us training tonight, Deads with Garden Bencher and Bench with Lurkio, Kev, GB, Big Dave and Blondie.

Just a light workout to get me back into the flow.

Deadlift.
10 x 60
5 x 100
5 x 140
3 x 160
2 x 170
1 x 180
2 x 170
3 x 160
Nothing too difficult, but it still felt tough.

Bench.
10 x 60
8 x 80
5 x 5 x 100
2 x 5 x 90 Close Grip.
Again nothing too difficult and no danger of any failures. Wrists felt painful at the time though.

Finished with loads of CnJ's, Fronties and Snatch's all at 50K so nothing too taxing. 7 weeks to the next competition, so the weight has to start coming off now. Another easy session on Friday then the build up begins.

July 5th. East Midlands Masters.
August 23rd. All England.
October 11th. British Un-Equipped.
All GBPF, all at Masters 2 (over 50), all at 110 Kilos, all un-equipped.

Friday 15th.

This was supposed to be another easy session before I start the build up to July's competition, however some of the guys at the Farm are giving a powerlifting "demonstration" at the local councils "get fit & get healthy" day tomorrow so half of the night was spent loading mats, bars, benches and weights into the car.

Squat.
1/2 squats to the bench.
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 120
5 x 160
3 x 180
3 x 190
3 x 200
3 x 190
5 x 170
Fairly happy with this, the 3x200 equals the best I have ever managed.

Bench.
10 x 60
10 x 85
5 x 5 x 105
2 x 5 x 95 Close Grip.
Satisfied with this as well, the final press was paused in every instance.

Saturday 16th May. Unscheduled training.

Kev, Garden Bencher, Big Dave, Blondie and myself were "demonstrating" powerlifting to the local community yesterday. Sandwiched between a "yoga for kids" group and Chinese line dancers (something kung-fu like) I thought that we gave a good representation of our sport.

However during the 4 hours the event was open I reckon that I must have completed well over fifty 100K+ (up to 120K) presses and a similar amount of deadlifts (up to 165K).

I ache like f**k today.

Monday 18th May.

A very disapointing day. I weighed in at 115.25 Kilos. How the Fk did that happen, especially after a more active than usual weekend and all I have eaten today is 3 tomatoes, 6 radishes, some raw carrot and 1 small slice of pork pie (Sunday teas leftovers). In fact I was so hungry tonight I felt like passing out! It must be dodgy scales at the Farm.

Eleven of us training tonight. Deadlifting with Kevin and his elastopastered knees. Benching with most everyone else.

Deadlift.
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 120
2 x 160
2 x 180
1 x 200 Failed 2nd lift at knees.
2 x 190
2 x 175
5 x 160
Not too dissapointed with the 2nd 200, the first one came up sweet but the form was all wrong for the 2nd, knees straightened and could not lock out the back. Concentrated on form and the 2x190 came up well. It does not look like much of a session on paper but it was all done and dusted in under 30 minutes.

Bench.

8 x 90
3 x 5 x 107.5
3 x 115
1 x 125 Failed, nothing left in the arms.
2 x 5 x 100 Close Grip.
The shoulders are still pretty sore afters Saturdays exertions.

All in all a fairly short workout tonight.
I also learned tonight that my competition plans might have to be changed, my next competition was supposed to be the EM Masters at Yardley, however rumour has it they will not now be hosting it and we might have to put the event on at the Farm. I'll tell more as soon as I hear anything.
