Monday 19th January.

Tonight's plan was to just have a quick run through up to my openers.
Weighed in at 110.85Kg.

Squat.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 70
3 x 110
2 x 130
1 x 145
1 x 160
1 x 170 Under command & scrutiny from Forklift.
Really struggled with the 170 after an easy 160, went much too deep and leant forward. More warm-ups needed. Disappointing and considered doing it again but decided to move on.

Bench.
2 x 10 x 20
8 x 60
5 x 80
3 x 90
1 x 100 Paused under command.
1 x 105 Paused under command.
All felt easy.

Deadlift.
5 x 70
3 x 110
2 x 140
1 x 160
1 x 180
1 x 200
The 200 was a real grind, again it felt disappointingly heavy.

Current plan for Sunday is 170/180 squat, 105/112.5 bench and 200/210 deadlift. Third lifts will depend on the first two.

Sunday 25th January.
GBPF East Midlands Classic.

Weighed in at 108.8Kg, my lightest since 2009 (and that was after a large curry on Saturday night). It was a very long day with loads of lifters and us fat boys not starting until late, I finally took my first lift at 3:30.

Squat.
warmed up with:
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 60
3 x 100
2 x 120
1 x 140
1 x 160
1 x 165
This was not a rushed warm up, it looked like we were going to start at 2:30, then 3, then 3:10 and I was in the second group.
170 - Three whites, felt better than the 160!
180 - Three whites, tough but not in doubt.
185 - Fail, got stuck half way up!

Bench.
Warmed up with:
2 x 10 x 20
5 x 60
3 x 80
2 x 90
1 x 100 long pause.
Then:
1 x 105. Felt easy despite what seemed like a long pause.
1 x 112.5 Failed, got stuck half way.
1 x 112.5 Failed, got stuck half way.
For some reason it was the pause that was killing me, the delay ensuring that there was no available leg drive, this has been coming up every day in the gym over recent weeks, if the 105 had felt bad i'd have gone for 110 which in retrospect would probably have been the better choice, however after the 105 I genuinely thought that there was a chance for 115 on the third.

Deadlift.
Warmed up with:
5 x 100
3 x 120
3 x 140
1 x 160
1 x 180
1 x 190
Then,
1 x 200 Never in doubt.
1 x 210 Came up but was a grind.
Never took a third, suddenly felt very tired!

Finished with 180/105/210 for 495. My worst result for over 5 years, however after sleeping on it I've concluded that the 180 squat and 210 deadlift were as much as my current training suggested was there, the only disappointment was the bench but that will be different on another day with different prevailing winds!!! Sorry, that weight was 108.8, not 118.8!

All of the other 5 lifters in my class weighed at least 10 kilos more than me.
