Monday 22nd September - Weightlifting @ The Garage

Waist Snatch (off plates, jump feet out) :
  • 30kg x3, x3, x3
  • 40kg x3, x3, x3


Got a good stretch at bottom, trying to open up hips and allow feet to naturally move out without much resistance from tight muscles.

Deficit (36mm) Snatch :
  • 40kg x3, x3
  • 60kg x3
  • 70kg x3
  • 80kg x2, x2, x2, x2
  • 85kg x2, x2, x2


These are much improved over last week in terms of rhythm and apparent the earlier work helped with bottom positon.

Snatch Pull :
  • 90kg x2
  • 100kg x3, x2
  • 110kg x3, x3
  • 115kg x2, x2, x2
  • 120kg x1, x1, x1


Finished with a few more wee bits of stretching the snatch bottom position.

Comments :Had a nice session this morning in the garage. Spent a bit of time working on footwork during the snatch and the hip flexibility needed. Extreme tightness around the glutes and hip flexors (to allow a bit of internal rotation) hopefully can keep hammering at this and get it sorted.

Wanted 5 on top set but felt a strange little twinge on my left glute which I have been stretching.

Snatch Pull (5s ecc, from blocks below knee) :

Comments :Legs pretty f**ked tonight but I guess its to be expected. Really felt it coming off the floor on deficit cleans and by push press I was f**ked so got in some work with a decent weight.

Comments :That was that. Got a quick session in. If I was arsed to do BB type curls and s**t this would be when I do it but I can't ever be f**ked.

Comments :Started with a good bit more stretching than a usual Saturday and it seemed to help. Happy enough overall as its been a very tough week of training. Will pull volume back slightly next week to adjust and have a friendly comp on Saturday so will be a bit fresher then.

Cheers Si! In danger of catching my clean! It won't go up, seems to come when I'm fresher (ie. Comp tapered) but not going up much in training.
