On another note Sebastian oreb (thors coach) has just posted a pic of him and Thor on set filming his new movie. Not very promising with wsm starting in 16 days

Surely the multi day comp will make it easier for him. You talk as though you don't think he's going to do well. Where do you think he will place?

I think Hall will finish 4th or 5th. Hall is the strongest man on earth, if we take that to be an agglomeration of deads, benching, overhead, random gym stuff-unbeatable all round at this stuff. He is not, and nor do I ever think will be the WSM winner, as he struggles with many of the moving events in comparison to Thor, Terry, Loz, Shaw.

I really really hope eddie wins.

I think it will come down to how many get between them in the kettlebell and the deadlift.

I think eddie will win the OHP, DL

I think Shaw will win the KB throw, and the truck pull

Eddie could loose serious points on those events, or he could smash them out the park! hopefully the later, a british winner is long overdue!

Is the final over 2 or 3 days?

So which events do you have Loz beating Eddie on then? Frame and......

A fit Eddie won't finish behind Loz in this final with those events.

He won't challenge the top 3 overall due to deadlift. But he will be a nightmare for them on every other event.

Not commented so far but here goes:

It's not obvious Ed will beat Shaw on the circus barbell. Brian is pretty decent overhead on dumbbell/bar (not log or viking press I realise). I think he is better conditioned than Ed/better use of legs but Ed has the shoulder power.

It's not obvious Ed will beat Shaw on deadlift either. I think Ed could still be fatigued from his 500kg deadlift? Anyway, it will be close on these 2 events.

Brian should beat Ed on kettle bells, truck pull and stones.

Frame caryy I don't really know who wins.

Either way, it's going to be really close and my money is on Brian/Ed coming top 2, with Brian most likely on top. I will be cheering for Ed though!

On a side note, if Brian doesn win OR if Ed does win and decides 1 win is enough for him, I see Brian winning a few more down the line and potentially getting to 6+ WSM titles. That must be his aim?

If Ed drops weight, he might not lift any more than 480. He isn't guaranteed to beat Shaw in the event. He will obviously be favourite, but he won't be pulling the deadlift when he is 100% fresh and at the bodyweight he was at Europe's.

I think/hope Eddie can win WSM, but Shaw is still Favourite.

I think it's unlikely but I also didn't think he would lift 500kg.

You are assuming Ed is still in the contest after Deadlift.

There is just no direct relation between being the strongest man in the world at static lifting, and being the WSM. Kaz lost to the Viking, despite being much stronger. Mariusz beat people way stronger. If deadlift prowess were the denominator of WSM potential, then Benni and Bolton would have multiple WSMs, rather than being very average in their strongman performances. Hall will never be the WSM, but is without a doubt the strongest man in the world.

He would dominate powerlifting rapidly. Imagine of he focused on benching for a year?!! 300-320. Raw Squat to depth, rather than the half squats and zercher/dad assisted squats, 440. Raw dead, 450. Thing is, powerlifting makes strongman look like WWE in terms of popularity and coverage. Hall will be remembered for his amazing deadlifts, and hopefully a new Log WR when his triceps are up to it.
