There must be a reason he finished last on it(not fitness based, but injury), so I think some of the comments have been harsh on him. He prepared well for the comp. If for the last two years Z hadn't basically caused the Arnold's to have straps on frame carry...the two Young's guns would probably have challenged Shaw much more. They both lost it on that event...no straps frame carry Shaw has done many times, many more months training it also.

Coming last on the frame destroyed his chances from the get go. Hopefully he can come between brian & thor on the stones, still want thor to take the win!

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5204 posts | If he hadn't of placed last, he still would be third. Shaw and Thor too consistent. He's third, but a good third. Big Z would of struggled to place top two with those events. All winding up aside, well done Ed. Come back next year even better prepared. Also please no excuses with injuries. I doubt any of these guys are 100% throughout the contest.

A bit premature saying he's on the podium when there is still an event to go and janashia still leads him by a point. Him exceeding expectations on the kettlebell toss has put him in a much better position though and he has a good chance of making it onto the podium. The title has to be shaws now. Thor might have caught him if he'd only been a point behind but short of a disaster like poundstone had in 08 Shaw isn't going to let a three point lead slip.

The heaviest is still only 200kg though, if there was a 220 or 230kg stone I think it might favour Shaw but with the top one being 200kg I think thor has the edge. Bit of a moot point though as thor would need two between him and Shaw which I don't see happening.

![]() Member 5560, 769 posts | The battle for 5th between Caron, Licis and Kielszkowski is interesting as well. Basically a top 5 place gets you seeded in your group for next year so that's important. Also - Terry isn't looking half as bad now!

True but I still consider a 200kg stone heavy at the end of a gruelling comp. Wasn't the last stone 165 only about 7 years ago? Now that was daft.
