I mean the health risks associated with trying to podium at world's strongest man these days. Is it worth it when in all likelihood you'll probably struggle to make the final.

It's a risky sport, but so are many others. Felix can still compete at 50, Terry can now.

End of an era. Member 4646, 1964 posts | Going off the shape Terry was in 2015 he may actually be healthier competing in strongman. Some people just function better with structure/goals in their life... particularly men. This year was a comeback year...his base strength is good. No one knows what a coach/dietician etc will do for him, worth a shot.

I actually said before it started that he wouldn't make the final this year based on what we had seen and everyone went mad. The whole point of sport is to have opinions.

I eat a lot of meat Member 5124, 3003 posts SQ 245, BP 130, DL 275650.0 kgs @ 105kgs UnEq | I was watching the Brits comp from a few years ago, where Ed was 1st, Hix 2nd and Loz 3rd. A really good comp too, that Terry competed in. The biggest moment for me though was in the loading race I think, and Bryce in the commentary box said about Hollands... "He just doesn't look as hungry as the other guys." Summed it up really. Some will say he was holding back for worlds, but he does often come across as just going through the motions in comps. I'm a fan as I said, and was looking forward too the big comeback, but it just didn't happen sadly. Same with the big deadlift he spoke up too. I honestly hope hiring John as his coach turns his results around, because I can't recall his last good performance in a comp.

Member 2407, 219 posts | Terry's big advantage is he's naturally huge and athletic. I doubt he has to push the limits as much as some mentioned and that's helping his longevity. On the other hand he's often admitted lacking motivation and real commitment but hopefully his team can provide that. If he can get technically better and come out firing he's our best chance at wsm from a genetics point of view.
