You've got Wayne smith who won empm but then if you start talking about who beat him, I beat him that year at England's qualifier, I beat bish at st Ives, I beat hixxy at bodypower but had shoulder injuries, biceps come off all things that change the game. Previous sentence isn't me saying I should get an invite, it's me trying to prove a point that anybody can win on any given day down to lots and lots of variables - who was in competing on the day, events etc. which is why, bar the usual suspects, everybody should have to qualify through specific comps. Look at Darren Sadler, WSM qualifier. He shouldn't have been there. No of fence to Darren I really like him and he's one of my all time favourite strongmen, but his place should have gone up someone else. It should not go on past performances, bar the top lads in the country, and I'm only talking top 5 really. The rest should have to scrap it out. This would do two things: 1 stop all the complaining because if you qualified you deserve your place. 2. Create a better athelete. Your going to train harder and more intensive and fight if you've got to earn your place. If your just going to get given it you can relax a little. And do not take this post as me trying to say I'm better than anybody on the list or anybody I've mentioned because I'm not. If I beat them that day I was, but skip to another comp and they could beat me- that's strongman. | ||

If you don't just carry on training and enjoying yourself and you will get your chance eventually. I've stopped worrying about these things and just enjoy training and competing, I'm a lot happier. | ||

I have only meet the organisers at comps and at most shook hands. but darren , loz and terry etc all love this sport and represent it very well imo. and will pick the best crop of athletes this opportunity that has been gifted to english strongman is great but it seems like early days just yet and I am sure given more time regional qualifiers will follow. and as luke said this will produce an even better field | ||
