knock knock !! who's there ?? OLD SCHOOL SUGDEN Member 212, 11439 posts SQ 325, BP 212.5, DL 370907.5 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | Post Edited: 30.04.2011 @ 12:24 PM by MarkClegg Another one of my weekly watches ...Donny Shankle is one of the hardest men in the world similar to Chuck Norris ! Jon North looks like he is going to be USA's next massive lifter to me .. Some good young uns too .. Few of the guys bend their arms like f**k when they clean like i used to do and instead of constantly bombarding the lifter with negative bulls**t the coach obviously says f**k it were going with it !! A sign of a great coach in my opinion .. If I had a guy like this behind me when I was lifting I'd of C&J 220kg !! Good luck to these guys

a cynical old scrote Member 68, 6844 posts SQ 255, BP 132.5, DL 250637.5 kgs @ 110kgs UnEq | I'd noticed the tendency for bent arms on the cleans but who gives a s**t, like you say sign of a good coach. Also noticed over the years that American lifters tend to be good jerkers short dip and strong overhead.

pointing the way Member 1298, 631 posts SQ 110, BP 65, DL 130305.0 kgs @ 63kgs UnEq | Post Edited: 30.04.2011 @ 19:31 PM by Gubernatrix I've met them too. Jon is a great guy - very funny, very supportive of other lifters, good coach too.Glenn is very interesting although I found him a bit harder to relate to on a social level. But he has interesting ideas on training; not everyone would agree with them but it seems to be working for him and his guys at the moment. They go heavy very frequently - when they dial it down, they dial down the volume, not the intensity. They do very little assistance work as you can see from the videos (you rarely see them do anything other than snatch, clean, jerk and squat). Glenn prefers to use the classical lifts themselves (or parts of) to work on technique issues or strength in particular positions. BTW Glenn also talked about the importance of the set up they have at the moment: a bunch of motivated guys all pushing each other, being competitive but also having a laugh. Helps when the training is so hard and monotonous. This really comes across in the videos as well. Having the blog and the videos is part of it too. Although he didn't say this explicitly, he talked about the importance of raising the profile of your club, giving people something to be proud of and something to fight for/compete for. In the US there are so many sports vying for attention that to attract talented athletes you have to offer something exciting and inspirational. Jon North, for example, was a football player and only ended up in weightlifting because his football career was cut short due to too many concussions. Spencer was a thrower (shot put I think).

Still training, nothing worth reporting yet. I did equal my absolute pb in the c&j whilst being weak as piss, i'm 5 kg off my best snatch anyday. It's about time i start pulling the fingers, and get stronger.
