One of the guys at California Strength used to compete in Strongman, Jared Enderton. He dropped a fair amount of weight once he made the switch and it seems to be going pretty well for him now.

Maybe a (ex-)weightlifter can answer this- isn't this the norm nowadays for most weightlifters training, at leaest the ones that win medals? Seems to be fairly mainstream training regime to me...

From what I can remember it only became popular after Broz popularised it by showing off Pat's 350 squat. Could be wrong though because I didn't pay any attention to weightlifting before I saw that squat... and still don't really. The Russians and the Chinese use quite a different method.

Lifters have trained like this for decades - long before Broz

I didn't say they didn't - obviously the Bulgarians did - but the method never received the popularity it did until Broz came along.

Some of the top British lifters were copying the Bulgarian ideas for their training back in the late 80's and it was covered in BAWLA coaches courses.

I suspect the same thing happened in many other places around the World.

That Max guy just got 302kg.

"he missed it 16 times over the last couple of weeks, but today he blew it up. 665lbs, no belt."

This was also the guy that tried 260kg for 5x5 last week.

And they've invented their own shot put technique.
