Addicted to what, alcohol, coke, heroin, speed, ecstasy? I find it hard to believe there's enough research to back that up. Don't worry, there isn't. What dose? What frequency of drug use? Does the use of certain narcotics effect the vaccine, if used within a certain timeframe of the initial vaccine? Define addiction - are we talking long-term users, or people who have developed a habit? Is this just a way of saying "The vaccine we have developed may not work on everyone - and if it doesn't work on you, then clearly that is because of your poor lifestyle choices: so, you should really keep that to yourself, you junkie/alcoholic"?

Seems like only Ireland, Italy and UK still giving Astra to under 60s. https://nationalpost.com/news/world/denmark-becomes-first-country-to-ditch-astrazeneca-shot-media-reports

"Oxford University published an important study based on more than 489k mRNA vaccine recipients that shows that the risk of portal vein thrombosis appears to be 30 times higher with mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) than with AstraZeneca’s. The risk of cerebral vein thrombosis, which caused many regulators to pause or discontinue using AstraZeneca’s and J&J vaccines, appears to be very similar for AstraZeneca’s vaccine (5 in a million) as for Pfizer’s and Moderna’s mRNA vaccines (4 in a million). Still, the risk of cerebral vein thrombosis from COVID itself appears to be 8 times and for portal vein thrombosis 10 times higher than for mRNA vaccines. Regulators should study this data to make more informed conclusions." https://mobile.twitter.com/sputnikvaccine/status/1382982134386819072?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1382982134386819072%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fnews%2F521313-pvt-bloodclot-mrna-covid-vaccine...

I am a bench-only guy Member 3, 10035 posts SQ 185, BP 175, DL 235595.0 kgs @ 140kgs UnEq Administrator | The clot risks, even on the most pessimistic data, are severalfold lower than (picking an example at not even slightly random) the contraceptive pill. What we have here is, imho, attempts to whip up hysteria and vaccine hesitancy. There is absolutely no doubt, on the numbers, that anybody past their middle 20s is significantly better off with the vaccine than without it, and not a lot of doubt in younger people.

Looking at them, it looks pretty grim for side effects etc. I've not had the vaccine, and don't intend to this moment in time. Right now, other than personal immunity, it's still not clear if it stops the spread. It 'may' stop the spread on the grounds that it may reduce symptoms which obviously correlate to your infectiousness. But, this means without the vaccine I could be a) asymptomatic and carry the same chance of spreading it as a vaccine recipient, or b) I'd have symptoms in which case I'd isolate. So right now, it seems there isn't a community reason to take on the risk of the non-time tested product beyond a decreased risk of needing a hospital bed, but when people are getting s**t faced 1-2x a week I'm not sure I can justify ANY risk for the community for the small chance I'd take up a hospital bed. I'm pretty altruistic I'm nature but if it's not even clear if it reduces transmission, then getting s**t injected into me where nobody has any liability, especially without knowing the long term effects is a balance between heroic and idiotic. As for personal immunity and treatment; Thymalin out performed all vaccine modalities/trials AND treatment methods. This would be my go to if s**t hit the fan. It also extends human life and normalises the human genome. It's just really expensive, probably due to it's geroprotective nature. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/964208/COVID-19_AstraZeneca_Vaccine_Analysis_Print__2_.pdf

I'm learning I'm bad at reading this stuff, but thought it read: - infection with Covid cause 8 thrombosis in 1000000 -Astra/J+J (and assumibly Sputnik/Convax and all dead cell vaccines) 4 in 1000000 and -Pfyser/Moderna 6 in 1000000. With that math AZ and JJ best bet of current approved EU&UK vaccines.

Between your and AMH's posts, I haven't picked every point but collectively they make a lot of sense. If vaccines and lockdowns are the only apparent offered suggestions, I feel compelled to say that there are other options of greater hewlth investment that have been (as a symptom) passed by. An open question: If this nation had higher levels of physical and mental health (and fitness), aswell as better investments to living standards, including healthcare, would that be a better choice long term. . . . . if Wuflu continued longer term? Or, continue propping up the economy, locking down, pushing back other services for other essential ailments and investing in vaccines. I am not smart enough to consider middle ground options. I am also shattered and not sure I am expressing my point so well.

Unless they bring in a New Zealand type quarantine we will always be playing catch-up to a new variant. Pfyser is already trying to sell booster versions of their shot for new variants (in development). I'd be happy enough to forgo foreign travel and tourism for a return to normal at home like NZ has. Ireland introduced a mandatory quarantine for EU countries with high R rates of the South African variants (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy + all from Ski Resorts). EU are doing some serious bullying to try and get Ireland to roll these back.
