Paul_D | Which barbell? | 03-04-2016 @ 19:00
Hey mate, my name is Paul Dudley Member 632, 3628 posts SQ 200, BP 155, DL 282.5637.5 kgs @ 77kgs UnEq | Right, after selling off my DBs I'm looking at upgrading to a decent barbell. At the moment I have a Strength Shop WL bar. The only reason being, I bought it as a 'clearance' and it cost me £99 (if I remember correctly). This is due to the sleeves not spinning quite as 'freely' as they should (no real issue to me, I don't perform WL movements really). However, the bar is a bit too whippy when deadlifting/squatting semi decent weight (no fault on the bars part, I guess it wasn't really designed for this). Anyway.... Enough of my nonsense..... Which barbell do you think is currently the best value for money? The bar will primarily be used for squatting, benching, deadlifting, overhead pressing (strict and push press). Thinking Texas Power bar, but the SS bas***d Power bar also interests me. Or.... I could just wait out for a decent Eleiko on eBay....? What's your opinion guys...?

My okie bar bent after not long. Texas power bar is a good call, I have no other particular information.

no really Irish Member 1196, 5908 posts SQ 312, BP 230, DL 320862.0 kgs @ 114kgs UnEq | Would defo go for the texas power bar. I train with expensive bars daily (some benefits to working in performance centers) I much prefer the texas bar to the Ivanko power bar whips less, deeper knurling and feels really nice in the hands during deadlift. Only bar I would favour over the texas bar would be an Elikeo comp bar we have one in the Uni which is a minimum of 20 years old and is still straight anyone who trains at the pleasance will testify to how impressive a feat that is.
