Interesting read. Particularly the proprioception part and the impact it has.

People have always worn belts higher in the deadlift. Play with poss that works for you.

I wear my belt high on both squats and deadlifts, always have done, and didnt realise I did untill numerous people pointed it out. I simply put it where I feel I need the most support in those lifts, plus I feel I can brace my core alot better with my belt in this higher position.

the only exception for me is when doing overhead stuff, I wear it lower because on this lift I feel that is where I need the support.

as for the article, cant believe howmuch crap can be written about where to wear your belt. try it in different places and see where you feel it works best, not everyone is the same, simples.

I've always had my belt higher for deads than squats. Not too high though but definitely different

It helped my deadlift massively when I switched to using a higher position. Felt terrible for squats though.

I tried once, and it pinched the s**t out of my gut. Though it did that when I first started wearing a belt anyway, so probably would just need some time to play around with the position. Looks a little goofy sometimes, but if it adds kilos to the bar...

I find my belt most comfortable and effective for deadlift, sitting just above my belly button.

Opposite for me, low belt position seems to help with the initial leg drive.

i've been playing around with the belt position that i use and i must say the higher position is better of deadlifts for me and slightly lower for squats has been working well given the position i have the bar placed.

I've pulled without a belt for so long, it feels horrible when I put one on. So I might try this next time I belt up.

Does anyone know where you can get a half decent 3" belt?
