You make people safe and comfortable, so they don't have tons of kids in the hope some will survive to look after them when they're old. It works consistently, even in the face of religious imperatives (eg Italy, Ireland). Yeah, it's not rocket science. Really good vid on this theme by Hans Rosling, a population growth expert, if anyone has the time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FACK2knC08E

Cancel.” Sweden restricts public gatherings to eight people: http://www.reuters.com/article/uk-health-coronavirus-sweden-pm... Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | Climate not doing so well right now, to be fair. that is not quite the point. there are countless numbers of predictions of environmental apocalypse in X amount of years that have proved to be entirely inaccurate - there are whole websites dedicated to this subject. however, there are probably more failed predictions on the overpopulation subject than even that due to the fact that they date back to malthus himself [a eugenicist]. One of several reasons we have to move away from a consumption based economy, of course. By definition unsustainable. But yes, we have known for decades that as soon as people get rich and safe their reproduction rate drops dramatically. The sooner we lift the developing world out of poverty, the sooner population problems go away. indeed. That doesn't follow, as you surely know. Reduction of growth is not reduction of culling; nobody is calling for culling anybody. (Except, of course, those who believe we should let the virus run through the population...) Neither, before anybody starts, is anybody calling for, eg, sterilisation programmes. Like I said above, we know how to fix population growth. You make people safe and comfortable, so they don't have tons of kids in the hope some will survive to look after them when they're old. It works consistently, even in the face of religious imperatives (eg Italy, Ireland). this is where the controversy lies. are you aware of the history of the pre ww2 eugenics movement? many influential people in the west were fully on board with hitler's ideas on eugenics and felt we were fighting on the wrong side. could it be that this movement did not just disappear after the war but went undercover due to the backlash against hitlers ideas? are you aware of the controversial origins of planned parenthood and margaret sanger? the forced sterilizations of the disabled and native americans running right up to 1979? the targeting of black women offering payment for sterilization? in modern day new york there are thousands more black babies aborted than are actually born. this is all modern history. way off topic however. the simple point I was trying to make is that people all too often flippantly talk about overpopulation without fully understanding the causes, effects and solutions. not a massive michael shermer fan but I like this article as a basic outline of the argument against malthusian ideas. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-malthus-is-still-wro...

Yes. Are all conspiracy theories wrong... No. I don't 'what' to believe 100%, and when I think about it, the answer is very little else beyond we live and die. However, I do love a good conspiracy theory. I do wonder at times though, what goes on behind closed doors with a lot of these powerful big wigs. We all know that corruption is rife, dodgy dealings are plentiful, and usually the people at the top have skeletons in the closet, but even when these are revealed, things quickly get washed away in the media and forgotten about.

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5207 posts | I don't want a vaccine that I likely will not need. Let's pretend the virus mortality is 1% (it's less). I don't think an unproven vaccine is necessary for anyone that is not old or suffering any health issues My father is 66 and has copd/asthma and type 2 diabetes. I would certainly advise him to take it, as the risk is more serious But no doubt we will only be allowed to work, go to gym, travel, etc if we have the vaccine Won't be mandatory, but life will be harder without it

BBC media action is a charity, a separate entity to the BBC and completely separately (and transparently) funded. They are entirely reliant on donation income, as one would expect of a charity. WILLSAN said: bill gates has had a lot of airtime on the bbc since wu flu. I wonder why. Because he’s donated billions to support infectious disease control over many years, been involved in many awareness campaigns, and has been warning about the likelihood of novel pandemic events like this for a decade or two?
