Really f**ks me off when people who train 3-4 times per week 'deload' and have a light week ever 4 weeks or so.

'531'

I hate hearing people who can't even bench 3 plates a side go on about how amazing '531' is

You obviously haven't read 5/3/1, or you have read it and you missed the entire point Wendler was getting at.

Also, it's about where people have come from, not where they are. If they have a 120 bench and they started with the bar a year ago, that's pretty solid, if they have a 180 bench and they've been at it for 10 years, not so much.

At the UKsc Esm north qualifier they had a spectator event that was 60kg log and 70kg farmers, one lad says 'i'm not doing farmers as i trained legs on friday'..My wife had to hide her laughter...

I've read the book (in fact I've got a copy) and I must admit that I don't see Wendler's point, other than trying to market the programme to people who think that they need to deload every 4th week.

there might be some truth in that!

I hate the "Americanisms" (is that even a word) the pro athletes come out with. Ortmayer said one alonmg the lines of:

"Bleed more in training, less on the battlefield" (I'm paraphrasing) or some s**te like that....its a sport FFS!

A sport? Lifting is not a sport, it's an epic battle only fit for the most HARDCORE of MEN. Think David and Goliath, only Goliath had been on the Deca and was dosed up on PCP. That's pretty much the challenge I face in all of my workouts. THIS IS LIFTING DAMNIT! and I'm a MAN! GRRRRRRR.

Unless you're on 2g of test injected into your eyeball on a daily basis, you just wouldnt understand.

Not read through this but for me...DOMS! In my day you were sore from training. It was obvious why without giving it a fancy pants name. Confused

He took what he did for himself after he got sick of being too fat to tie his own shoes and put it in a book, given that he lifted at the level he did and played college football for several years, he's pretty beat up, he can't go for 3+ weeks and not get too sore to train, it's what he did. At no point in the book does he say "You have to deload every third week or you'll fail." People asked him what he did, he gave it to them. The entire point of the book is about progressing slowly, the deload is suggested because that'll work for everybody. That's the whole point of the book, it's a simple program that anybody can follow and that anybody can make consistent gains on it. The deload is there for the sake of a) simplicity and b) consistency.

Gym lifting is just great. You take your lift in familiar circumstances, handed off and spotted by the same guys who always do it, on a day you picked because it felt good, on the same setup you warmed up with (and didn't have to fight for bar time on), when you fancy - not within sixty seconds of your name being called after the start time of your flight was changed twice - having spent the day in your routine with your usual food and getting up from your own bed, without having to worry about possibly weird reffing, knowing that if it doesn't go you can do it again next week, or right now because you don't have to count attempts - I could go on.
Competition lifters find out very quickly that it's not the same game.

Missed this excellent post.

training partners shouting 'Eaaasy' when it clearly wasn't

'boshing' a few reps out - this one I particularly dislike

Phrases like 'tight, tight!', 'chest out' and 'hip drive' are actually quite good cues and I find them funny rather than irritating.

I sometimes use the easy phrase in non-easy situations.

Bodybuilders (shirts off/vests on - with jogging trousers on)
"Yeah, I train legs all the time, but I do it at my other gym....!"

that would be why I only ever see you doing a "chest day" - wa**er

Bodybuilders - "chest day".....f**k OFF. If you want to lay down through every work out get out of the gym

Bodybuilders - "You want to use a full range of motion mate...!!" - No I dont, its a floor press. Its for my triceps. To help with my overhead. Dont criticise what you dont understand - PRICK

Staff - "could you put it down instead of dropping it..." - f**k YOURSELVES, I am training for most reps in 75 sec, I will not be gently placing each one down...!!

Anyone - "Let me just get my gym gloves on...." - I am at risk of one of those freak gunning down at random incidents...

Bodybuilders - "No I am not planning on doing any shows/comps.." - well what the f**k are you doing it for...! Vanity! Believe me, women arent impressed. I have never had a six pack and its never done me any harm...

Bodybuilders (when talking about strongman and referring to their own muscular physiques..) - "No mate, this body doesnt actually work - its all just for show ha ha ha ha" - YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES....It is better to look weak and flabby but be strong as f**k, than it ever could be to look like Arnold but be deadlifting less than I bench...!!

Also anything to do with critiquing or giving feedback to any other male regarding their body in the gym. If I wanted to watch Gay porn....actually, I just dont want to.... Please look at each others bodies from the comfort of your own duvets you bas***dS....
