Really f**ks me off when people who train 3-4 times per week 'deload' and have a light week ever 4 weeks or so.

'531'

I hate hearing people who can't even bench 3 plates a side go on about how amazing '531' is.

'OVERTRAINING'

I've had 1 day off in 6 weeks! And made lovely gains! Overtraining is bullcrap!

'DRUG FREE'

Do you want some special recognition because you have normal test levels? Weights are weights, it doesn't matter what you take IMO.

Basically you don't like anyone who doesn't train like you do? Grin
Disagree with these the way you put them, however people ho bang on about overtraining and being drug free and how 531 is awesome even if they are really novices and would progress with anything and deload out of fear of doing any real training for a good stretch is indeed a bit poo.

Look, you're in kit. The term loose being added to make it 'closer to raw' and therefore more impressive really gets on my tits!

I lol'd at this because it's true. Reminds me of the picture of Louie Simmons needing two men to help him into his "loose" briefs.

the word "easy" gets used way too much at our place

its more gym behaviour that pisses me off what with spotting on bench in zercher sqaut fashion when there using like 180kg

and you can have a loose suit thats hard to get into but dunno if its same with briefs

other thing is people who recon they would lift "x" amount more if they used a shirt even tho they have never touched one

I tend to agree but then it works for some people.

'531'

I hate hearing people who can't even bench 3 plates a side go on about how amazing '531' is.

I get were you coming from, but its actually a decent plan for begginers as its easy to follow and gets the job done for those that unfortunatly have a life outside lifting. If you cannot train yourself, and don't have a coach, you got to lean by following some sort of plan?

'OVERTRAINING'

I've had 1 day off in 6 weeks! And made lovely gains! Overtraining is bullcrap!

Overtraining is a real physilogical/neurological condition. Yes using lots of drugs helps overcome this, and yes majority of people don't train hard enough to worry about it. You hate people moaning about overtraining when training a 3 day a week bodybuilidng split Happy Or maybe you hate people using the term to denote they've done so much training it'd hinder muscle growth... when they've often not done enough lol

'DRUG FREE'

Do you want some special recognition because you have normal test levels? Weights are weights, it doesn't matter what you take IMO.

Off course it matter what drugs you take. If you'd never taken a PED before what do you reckon your lifts would be now? If it's close then you've wasted alot of money! It's a large artifical aid to lifting on the same continuim as PL gear. Thats not a moral objection to them. It's just clearly the whole point of taking artifical hormones (or supra-physiological concentrations). that yo acheive and effect greater than that possible normally.

I think I just agreed with everything Iain just said, not often I could say that. Put it better than I would have tbf.

Nice post Iain! So true.

and 5/3/1 is great and it does work... so what if someone can't bench 140... thats like saying a wannabee sprinter should not do a structured program known to work, just because he cant already run sub 12 sec

The constant fellatio of 531 on internet forums does get boring though, doesn't it? I'm not saying it doesn't work, just that the amount of rim-jobs it gets is uncalled for.Wink

i know its off topic but its a genuine question what other programs are there because the main ones seem to be

5/3/1
westside
smolov
sheiko
russian sqaut
progressive movment
wave cycle

there must be alot more programs around than these but these seem to come up all the time

5/3/1 ... well, it depends on the person. I've spent a lot of time on American forums that fellate Wendler to the extent that 5/3/1 is the default programme and it gets a little annoying.

It's a good programme and obviously works for a lot of people. Or rather, it's a good set and rep scheme.

I've seen a fair amount of people who have done it because it looks easier than Westside, Smolov, 5x5 etc. Some people want the gains but don't want to put in the effort, and they always puss out on the assistance that is very important on 5/3/1 due to the low volume of the main lifts. Unsurprisingly these people are still stuck at 70kg benches and 100kg squats.
