1k run in 3.49

Today felt tough, i think it's a bit of tiredness after finishing my 6th shift in 7 days today, quite pleased with the DL though, 210 for 6 isn't bad for someone with a 240kg max is it? I didn't have much left after the rows so didn't expect a good time for the run so within 2 secs of my last one was ok.

Well here goes.

1st event - Van Pull 25m
My initial thought was this would be easy because i pulled a brewers lorry in a previous event and thought a loaded van would be easier, boy was i wrong, this was on grass and wet grass on uneven ground at that. The first 7 or 8 competitors failed to go the distance, then the next two out of three finished the course and then it was my turn. I tensioned the rope, the ref said go, and then the harness snapped, bugger. Five minutes later with a repaired harness i tried again, i got off to a good start and then hit a dip in the ground but managed to pull through in just over 34s. 2nd fastest.

2nd event - 80kg Log, Clean & Press for reps
I went last but one in this as it was reverse order of last events placing, i was expecting 8-10reps initially but after seeing the log (it was about 7-8" dia), i didn't know what to expect and the best up to my turn was 13reps, so up i stepped and banged out 11 reps. 4th place

3rd event - 180kg Axle Deadlift for reps
I'd done 200kg for 9 on a normal bar so i thought i would do about 10, so when i finished with 16reps in 75secs i was really surprised and very happy. Joint 3rd

4th event - Max 2" Dumbell
Not a good event for me i'd done 65kg in training so was hoping for 70kg on the day. Not today though, I lifted 40kg then 50kg then 60kg, but failed 70kg on two attempts. Gutted, didn't train this enough. Joint 8th?

5th event - 90kg sandbag over yoke reps in 60secs
This was supposed to be a yoke, farmers, sled medley but the heavens opened and we did this inside instead. Now we were told the standings before the start of the last event and i was sitting 3rd, half a point ahead of 2 men in joint 5th, but 5 points behind 2nd. So all i had to do to secure 3rd was do the same or more than the ones behind me. They got 6reps and 5reps. So 6 was my target but i wanted 8 because there was always an outside chance the guy in 2nd might falter.
So out i went and did the first 3 really fast and then started to struggle a bit due to my finger tips were killing me because they'd taken most of the strain of the first few lifts so after my 7th rep i ran around the yoke ready to lift for the 8th and time was up. 7reps joimt 2nd (with the 2nd placed lifter)

Final Position - 3rd.

I was happy with 3rd especially after seeing the eventual winner finish top in 4 out of 5 events, boy those eastern europeans are strong f**kers.

So off to Spain tomorrow for 12 days and then focus on the next one,
Wiltshires strongest man, sept 25th, maybe?

Cheers Neil.

Question for you, do you know any routines for dealift that work over 4 weeks to up my pb, i'm thinking of entering Wiltshires strongest man sept 25th, it's u105 (i would still class myself as a novice) but i'll only have 4 weeks preparation after my hols and really need to work my DL and overhead in this time, as theres a DL medley, an overhead medley and viking press for reps in the comp'.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Try a Russian squat routine but over two days.
