Surprised slightly with the 165 squat, been barely managing 160 with my infrequent sporadic barely training. Haven't been in almost a month.

s**tty gym, 6ft bar, made squats weird. Was pretty much fasted, so I was tired and weak. Meh.

Also, pretty sure the dumbbells in my usual gym are heavier than standard. The ones I used yesterday are one piece rubber items, and 25s were easy.

Just a quick session, not much time. Finals in a couple of weeks. The squats felt f**king easy and fantastic until the 160. The Eleiko bar spins so damn easily, when I bounce at the bottom, my wrist rolled it forward, made the first 160 really difficult because I fell forward. Second attempt I was trying to pull back slightly, this time bar rolled back and I lost it. Annoying. But I'll get used to the bar I suppose. Or try high-bar for a bit.

Loved deadlifting with the Eleiko though. Nice and thin, good sharp knurling, and nice and bendy/whippy. Hopefully get 230 with that bar in the summer.

Yeah, 3 weeks worth of final exams start next week. Aiming to get in at least a session a week. Then going to have nearly 3 months of fairly consistent training until I start working in August. Should be able to get back to PBs in that time. Dunno how much training I'll get in as a junior doctor.

Getting back up there. The 145x5's weren't heavy, I was just getting exhausted. The 170 was very hard, almost missed it. But since I was squatting outside the rack with no spotters, I pushed a little harder I suppose, so wouldn't dump it. I was using bumper plates though, so it wouldn't have mattered that much.

Used the Texas Power Bar for squatting instead of the Eleiko... much much better. Felt a lot more secure. The eleiko has barely any centre knurling at all, the TBP has loads. Both bars are beautiful.

Hello mate , i noticed from Doc Hazbuns journal you live in Buckinghamshire , just wondered where you train ? I'm in winslow (between aylesbury and Mk) , i'm looking to find somone to train squats with on a thursday evening to help my squat which is pretty awful.
On the off chance you live the northern end of the county and dont mind meeting up with strange men from the internet , let me know if your up for a session.

I train in London at the moment, commuting for school. And live in Amersham, so not really that close tbh. If for some reason I'm up there (not 100% sure where I'll be based from August), i don't mind meeting up to train. But for now, probably not likely. Sorry mate.
