With more rest and food I'm sure you'll find it easier. It makes such a difference when you're fresh and well fed. I'm sure you'll push ahead soon enough Happy

I think I may try dumbbell bench press tomorrow. I've never done them before.

I haven't benched in 2 weeks. Couldn't give a f**k.

I've got to bench something, anything, at least once every 5 days. It makes me more of a man.

I was just sitting here wondering why I've got post. delt and tricep DOMS and it's because just before leaving the gym I went for some cable pushdowns. I got 65kg x 6 which is a rep PB.

Another disappointing session.

Squat: (light)

72.5kg x 5
92.5kg x 5
112.5kg x 5
112.5kg x 5

Dumbbell Bench:

20kg x 5
25kg x 5
30kg x 0 (dropped)
30kg x 5
35kg x 0 (dropped)
32.5kg x 5
32.5 kg x 4 (dropped)
32.5kg x 0 (dropped... ON MY ****ING THUMB!!!)

Deadlift: (with straps, for obvious reasons)

70kg x 5
110kg x 5
150kg x 3
170kg x 1
185kg x 2 (failed 3rd, thumb really hurting) (PB* for reps technically)
185kg x 1 (failed 2nd above the knee)

Rack Pulls: (at the knee, no straps, just mixed grip surprisingly)

70kg x 7
110kg x 5
150kg x 3
180kg x 3
190kg x 3
200kg x 3
210kg x 3 (PB*)
230kg x 0 (got it about an inch off the pins)

Thumb swelled up like a sausage after smashing it between two 32.5kg hammers. Vids to come later.

Used straps for deadlifts, but it still hurt. First reps were easy, but I think it either dragged on my leg or the bar bounced and hurt my thumb more, but I couldn't do the 3rd rep due to the painful distraction. I had no lockout power for the 2nd set, so I got pissed and decided to do rack pulls.

Very surprisingly, I used mixed grip and it was painfree and surprisingly strong. I've been using hook grip for over a year and I didn't think my mixed grip would hold 180kg let alone 210kg x 3, but it did no problem.

This hasn't been a great week in training. I know I'm not eating enough, because I've gone down a notch on my belt so I'm losing weight. Need to eat moar.

In your case, losing weight may not be such a bad thing! It was 35kg for the DB presses btw.

I don't think I even tried the 35s? Wait, just checked the vids, I dropped the 35s almost instantly; I couldn't even stabilise them at the top.

Nice rack pull. What's your setup for pressing the dumbells?

Thanks. I stand in front of the bench with arms down by legs holding the dumbbells. I thin simultaneously rock back on to the bench whilst swinging my legs and arms up, such that my arms should end up in the up/locked out position. This takes a bit of practice, certainly more practice with heavier weights.

I've got a vid, it's easier to show it that way. http://jaycut.com/content/10-february-2011-558

Squats: (PB*)

72.5kg x 5
92.5kg x 5
112.5kg x 5
127.5kg x 5
142.5kg x 5 (PB*)
112.5kg x 8

OHP:

30kg x 5
35kg x 5
40kg x 5
45kg x 5
55kg x 3
55kg x 2 (failed 3rd rep)

Technically, I was only going for 3 reps, but since I missed this weight for 5 reps on Monday, I decided to go for 5 today. And I got them. I might move to 145kg x 3 for Monday, and will swap my Monday and Friday routines for this program. Or just get 142.5kg x 5 again. Meh.

OHP, this is a repeat weight since I missed Monday's set of 5. I'll try again for 5 after the weekend.
