U confused me .i too struggle with first half of deads .i always believed deficits sorted that out and rack pulls sorted lockout half .

Ok luke how can i get my deads up ?
Deficit level from feet to bar i barely get 140 up
Regular 240
18 inch 340
If i get a deadlift to my knees i normally am succesful
If anybody else can advise me id be greatful

See this is why i need train 18" - have pulled 40kg more off the floor but he beats my best 18" by 80kg!

I read somewhere that just off the floor is the "right" place to struggle with deads... That it generally indicates solid techinque and the answer is probably more normal deads and generally getting stronger, as there is no specific weakness to address. I think it may have been in one of Mike Tuchscherer's articles.

No actually that was after working the below knee pulls for a good while, i could only do around 250 when i did 280 from the floor.
