Gonna outlive my opposition !! Member 123, 4038 posts SQ 202.5, BP 135.0, DL 232.5570.0 kgs @ 117kgs UnEq | Very interesting. It will be too late for today's top lifters but our Juniors & Sub-Juniors must be motivated at the prospect of attending an Olympic games in 12 or 16 years time. I hope that I'm around to see Powerlifters take to the Olympic platform.

nothing to hide, please follow my life on webcam Member 255, 3732 posts | There's a very big difference between IOC recognition and a sport being in the Olympics. International Sporting Federations already recognised by the IOC include "sports" such as bridge, chess, lifesaving and dance sports.

Il be 34 in 12 years so Probs passed it that's if I ever get good enough If the gbpf / ipf have an idea of timescales etc they should be doing what British cycling did with us when the prospect of bmx racing in the Olympics was on the horizon they set up a national talent team aimed at 12-16 year olds and ran training camps and even had them competeing internatinaoly at a young age to get you used to it they were targeting this age group and developing the skills needed as these would be the riders at there peak by the time of the Olympics Someone needs to get into schools and start promoting the sport to younger lifters rather than them stumbiling into the sport in there late teens after a few years of mislead body building style training

I suppose peaking age is very sport specific I would love to see what the records would be if powerlifitng was a more mainstream sport such as rugby and football with a much greater tallent pool but I know it never will be
