Risky move, but cool if you can pull it off and not end up being stomped in the head (going by old style rules lol).

This was probably the reason behind old rules. Try and teach me the dangers of what happens if I don't get it right. They're constanly sneaking this stuff in now.

Thursday:

Paused Squat: 20x2x5, 60x3, 80x3, 90x3, 97.5x3, 102.5x3 - being strict one the "one thousand" counts for a 3 sec pause
Squat: 97.5x5x5 - I remembered I had traps and squat suddenly got so much easier

Bench Warm Up: 20x2x5, 40x5, 60x3, 70x1
Shirted Nonsense: 80x2, 95x2, 105x2, 115x1, 120x3 (various levels of touch or fail with 120kg, If I'd had the sense to use collars on the first I'd probably have got it rather than tipping to the side.
Paused Bench: 65x5x5 - again, strict on that long pause count
Bent Over Row: 50x5, 55x2x5
Pull Up: 3x3, 2, 3

I am feeling big and clever for spotting this when I was video editing this morning.

While I was still at Uni I'd do intervals on the bikes or rowing machine, that period was probably the best condition I was in.

I had a 5k route I used to do at lunch when I worked, we have two hour practices so conditioning was worked in a bit during competition season, but the top players were expected to be doing a lot more out with the club.

I don't run any more and my feet are much happier for it.

I the comp run I did last year to get my dan grade points I ended up doing very little conditioning as I kept hurting my feet fighting fat birds for points. Now the only conditioning I have is from any open practice I do.

And I really want to try Sambo. We have a guy about my size in judo called Hugh McAree that did a few Sambo comps when he was in his prime, and we had an international student (Konstantine, he was a good laugh) that would try and teach me sambo stuff. Hugh has pushed Sambo and Scottish Back Hold to me a few times but it's finding some where in Scotland to train that won't impact on the time I spend on powerlifting.

I presume the same guy:
'In 1976 Hugh McAree (62kgs) won the Gold medal at the European Sombo championships in Leningrad, the astonished Soviet officials protested on a technicality and the gold was given to their own wrestler whom McAree had beaten. This reaction by the Soviet team officials was not appreciated by their national newspapers all of which carried banner headlines which stated, "McAree is the real European Champion"'

That'll be the one. He's in his 60s now and still on the mat. Feels like an empty gi when you try and throw him. His foot sweeps are beatiful and perfectly timed.

I'm kind of spoiled in Judo in that I've had a lot of big names to train with. Louise Rennicks gave me solid advice before my first British Unis and if it weren't for Eddie and Gregg Cassidy I wouldn't have tried going for my first dan when I did.

And George Kerr, who complimented my Judo at my last regional by telling the girls from his club that it was the most solid Judo he'd seen all day.

Nothing will ever beat getting run over by Kosei Inoue during a warm up though. He's a big guy and just ran into me because he didn't see me. Very appologetic.

Yeah, I got pulled up about not showing up to team trials for BJJ on Wednesday night, and I'm expected to go tommorow. Not liking the pushyness of this. I'll compete at my own pace, k thx bai.

I have deadlifts to do tomorrow and bench only lifters to coach.

I'm also more use to them if I have my level 2 coaching in judo that if I don't.

If I were taking this seriously I would either be at the Grip or probably doing a lot more Judo.

Saturday:

BJJ team trials, didn't notice at the time but I'd badly gi burned my elbows, and by gi burn I mean flayed. Probably won't be joining the team if this is their idea of approproiate conditioning.

On the plus side, I can do 30 clapping push ups faster than some fit young men. I proved my point, my point is that this is the place for fun lunch time rolling and not to develop serious competition condition.

Sumo Deadlift Equipped: 70x5, 100x5, 120x1, 140x1, 150x1, 160x1
Deadlift Equipped: 120x1, 140x1, 155x1
Deadlift: 120x5x3
OHP: 25x12, 37x8, 30x5, 33x3, 25x10
Jerk: 25x5, 35x3, 42x3, 47x3, 50x5x3

Thanks.

Monday:

Squat warm up: 20x2x5, 60x5, 80x3, 100x3, 60x3x3
Squat Equipped: 100x2, 120x1, 140x1, 155x1 - had to put the old suit on as I couldn't get back into my new one. Weight gain and water are the most likely culprit
Squat: 95x3x5
Bench: 20x5, 40x5, 60x3, 67.5x3, 72.5x3, 75x3, 77.5x3, 65x3x5
Assistance: DB Row and Overhead Lunges

After fannying about changing suits for an hour I didn't really have it in me to try and hit 160+ tonight.

Tuesday:

Paused Deadlift: 60x5, 80x5, 90x5x5
Snatch: 15x2x8, 25x4x3, 35x5x3 - starting to get my line again but having to pull slowly so I can exaggerate the tripple extension
Paused Front Squat: 35x5, 60x5, 67.5x5x5
Assistance: inverted row, push up, pull up, barbell roll out

No footage as phone is dead and not much to see any way.

Squat: 100x5x5
Bench Warm up: 20x5, 40x5, 60x3, 70x1
Equipped bench: 80x2, 95x2, 105x1, 110x1 112.5x2x1 - finally got something to my chest, took 2 attempts so I could try and get a smoother lift and pause the second
Paused Bench: 62.5x5x5
Assistance: rows & face pulls
