Trying out the Magnusson/Ortmayer Deadlift routine because a) my uq deadlift has been s**t the past year b) the intensity looks about right compared to others and c) I really want those end numbers to be real.

Deadlift: 4x4 @110kg, 2x2 @122.5kg
Barbell Glute Bridge: 5x10 @90kg
OHP: 12 @25kg, 8 @30kg, 5 @33kg, 3 @35kg
Jerk: 5x3 @48kg
Assistance: planks & renegade rows

And I have to get back to 54kg in seven weeks.

Monday:

Squat: 3@120kg, 3x5 @95kg (supposed to be 3 @ 9RPE and 3x5 @ 8RPE but still feeling out where I should be on the higher reps)
Bench - first rep paused: 3@77.5kg, 5@65kg, 2x5@67.5kg
Snatch 5x3 @43kg

Assistance: dumbbell rows and lunges.

Tuesday (no footage, forgot my phone):
Clean & Jerk: 5x3 @54kg

Snatch Grip Dealift: 3x5 @65kg - starting to get the shrug at the top now for high pulls

Paused Fron Squat: 3x5 @ 67.5kg

Assistance: Super set of inverted rows & push ups, super set of lat pull downs & barbell roll out.

I am not allowed the Scottish Men's Equipped squat record Unhappy

Hey Lou, look at 1:58 on your bench it could be the angle but it looks like your right arm is not moving so much and leftie is doing most of the moving to get it to your chest.

I felt this, it's a problem I had at the worlds but the shirt made things 100x worse. It means the bar touches my chest at an angle and that the lift presses out at an angle too.

I'm not getting my right shoulder set as tight as my left and I suspect I know why. I get intermittent problems in my right shoulder because of my bicep. When it happens I address the issue with shoulder mobility work which involves pulling the scapula back into a normal posture.

It'll fix itself with mobility work and as I'm having no pain or shoulder collapsing on overhead stuff I'm good to keep going.

It's still the standard at 162.5kg.

It started to get baltic a couple of weeks ago. I'm only just starting to remember to dress correctly for gym conditions.

Best of luck fixing the shoulder. Also remember the old mitts sticking to the bar routine. Keep warm, pleya!

Don't need straps when you've got frost.

Thursday:

Paused Squat (3 count): 3 @112.5kg
Squat: 5 @112.5kg, 4x5 @105kg - the program calls for hitting what I did as my top paused set on volume. 112.5kg felt a bit grindy for that tonight.

Bench (comp paused): 1 @75kg, f @80kg

Paused Bench (3 count) 5x5 @60kg - I've started to get my unequipped line back

Assistance: OH Squat, Bent Over Row and seated cable row.

I really hate benching at the uni. Their bench isn't fixed so it wheels about when I drive through the floor, and it's too narrow to get my man shoulders set. It's also too high, which should be an advantage but it isn't.

Our gym has one fixed bench that's roughly competition height and isn't soft enough you could sleep on it... I sometimes wait longer for that than I do a rack, I hate the commercial benches that much!

My usual gym has competition benches. I've said to the guys how great their benches are and that it's the main reason I'm there. They don't think their benches are that great.

I did think about buying one for the house when strength shop has them on sale, but there's no space for it.
