Just thought I'd start a journal on here, to get some thoughts from people on my training methods and results. My training is very different to most lifters in that I don't do much in the way of assistance work, I never do less than 6 reps on a heavy set and I don't wear a belt, even on a heavy deadlift!

Anyway, first entry now - squat and deadlift from yesterday:

Squat

110kg x 6

150kg x 3

180kg x 6

Deadlift

220kg x 3

265kg x 6

Barbell shrug

225kg x 6

Very good session considering I'd just recovered from food poisoning! Squat was easy and was up 2.5kg from last time, and deadlift was a good last set which went very easily.

Bench and upper body session 21/2:

Bench press:

60kg x 6
95kg x 3
107.5kg x 6

Narrow grip chin-ups:

Bodyweight x 6

Pull-downs:

110kg x 6

Standing press:

50kg x 6
70kg x 5

Dips:

Bodyweight x 6
Bodyweight + 95lbs x 5

This was another good session, bench will go up next time but will drop standing press and dips a bit to get a 6th rep!

Squat and deadlift session tonight:

Squat:

110kg x 6
150kg x 3
180kg x 6

Deadlift:

220kg x 3
267.5kg x 5

Barbell Shrugs:

215kg x 6

A bit disappointed about not getting 6 on the final deadlift, but this was due to my grip going not strength so I'll get it next time!

Welcome and nice deadlifting and squatting!

How come you never go less than 6 reps on heavy sets?

I never go below 6 because that's an ideal number of reps to go fairly heavy on without overworking.

Weekend's training, bench session 25/2:

Bench Press:

60kg x 6
95kg x 3
110kg x 5

Chin-ups:

Bodyweight x 6

Pull-downs:

115kg x 6

Standing Press:

50kg x 6
67.5kg x 6

Dips:

Bodyweight x 6
Bodyweight + 90lb x 5

Not a bad session, having reduced some weights to ensure 6 reps, although I did miss a rep on the bench due to an inexperienced spotter, but I should get it next time!
