Any comments welcome. Aims: to get stronger and stay at least vaguely fit. Tuesday 15th May. DL: 90kg x 6, 140kg x 5, 160kg x 5, 160kg x 5 - 3mins rest between each set. Widegrip chins own BW: 3 x 8 - 2mins rest between each set. BB rows: 55kg x 3 x 8 - 2mins rest between each set. BB curls: 35kg x 3 x 8 - 2mins rest between each set. Found the DLs a little hard going and intense. In fact I spent the rest of my workout pretty much catching my breath. I wonder how I put a picture next to my journal?

Walk your talk Member 5, 25557 posts Administrator | Good luck neil, I think 3 working sets of 5 reps is the best way on deadlifts, your immidiate goal should be a nice 400lb deadlift (182.5kg) and a 100kg benchpress , as for squat, justkeep goin !! 150 is a good squat , just keep training hard

I've always had reasonably large legs compared to my upper body, but that is slowly changing. I'm charging up the camera so I can get a video on here soon!

Perhaps I'll get a few photos taken too Wednesday 16th May. Went for a gentle 6km jog. 34mins. Back a little tender from yesterday's deadlifting, so I'm happy enough with that. I'm doing a 10km race with a mate on the 27th May, so I've got to keep putting the miles in or I'll not make it on the day! My PB for a 10km is 54mins 30secs.

I'd have liked to get around the 50-52min mark but it's twice round a hilly cross-country 5km course and I am used to running on flatish roads. I've not really been running for long but I do like it. Got myself one of those Garmin forerunner 305's so I can pace myself and all that. Hoping by the end of the year to be doing sub 50min 10kms. The run is in a small commune called Leoville which is near Jonzac in the Charente-Maritime (SW France). I'm actually English but I live in France. Do you run at all? Come on post your times!

Dips: BW + 8kg x 3sets x 8reps (see video below) - 2 mins rest between sets. DB shoulder press: 19.5kg x 3 x 8 - 2mins rest between sets. Cable push downs: 25kg x 3 x 8 - 2mins rest between sets. Rubbish. I did 85kg BP on 5x5 before but for about the last 8 weeks up until today I'd switched to DB inclined press. What a mistake, never again! My BB press is now really crap as opposed to just crap. Anyways, the only way to go is up eh! I'll try to put a better performance in for squats on Saturday for another video I'm using Ulead Videostudio 8. I tried a few effects (like adding text and stuff) but it didn't work out. What software do other people use?

Hilly cross-country course sounds nice Far better than running in the city! Good luck for the 27th then. I used to run regularly - 5 times a week with hill training and long runs up the malvern hills/lickey hills. But now I rarely run at all, just a time and recovery thing really. I can't fit running in as well as weights and Muay Thai. Also, I guess it's partly to do with living right in the centre of manchester - it's totally uninspirational for running. As soon as I get back to the country i'll probably be out every day again. I did a couple of 10 k's - best time was at boddington 54:00 but I have never been a speed machine. I'd rather just pootle along for a couple of hours looking at the scenery than trying to run faster

For Kettle, For Country! Member 81, 1706 posts SQ 182.5, BP 120, DL 227.5530.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | Cheers. Yeah I would like to run a quicker 10km than I currently do and I do want to be sub 50mins by the end of the year. It's achievable I think but beyond that I can't see me getting much quicker. Actually I'm now off out for a run. Thanks Rob for the little picture thing near my journal. I look a bit knackered in that which is pretty representative I reckon!

For Kettle, For Country! Member 81, 1706 posts SQ 182.5, BP 120, DL 227.5530.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | Friday 18th May Put in an 8km run at 44:30... so not too quick. Still feeling a little lower back tenderness from Tuesday's deads. Ah well. That's the last run I'll do now until the race on Sunday 27th because I really feel like I need to rest up. Not on the weights though, full steam ahead on that front

For Kettle, For Country! Member 81, 1706 posts SQ 182.5, BP 120, DL 227.5530.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | Saturday 19th May Squats: 91kg x 6, 131kg x 5, 131kg x 5, 131kg x 5 (see video) - 3mins rest Leg curl: 47kg x 8 x 3 - 2mins rest Calf raises: 80kg x 8 x 3 - 2mins rest Leg raises: 10 x 3 - supersetted with calf raises. This is the first time I've EVER seen myself squat cos we haven't got a mirror in our barn. Looks to me as though I am high and a little unbalanced. Doing these videos is really helping me focus on what I am doing. Also it's a good starting point from which I hope to improve and look back and chuckle at! Any comments on how I might improve my technique would be appreciated.
