Saw an article about how Rampage has been visiting an "anti-aging" doctor to treat a knee injury and that is why he missed weight at his last fight. He's been on HRT

Now I knew about Sonnen and his HRT, but apparently Dan Henderson is also on it

Whats the thoughts here, IMO you have your natural test level, any sort of therapy that alters that should not be allowed in a tested sport

Funny how Henderson is just getting better as he gets older, and Sonnen used to be known for not being able to last 3 rounds, but is fitter than ever

Agree entirely with this.

That Chael Sonnen episode was ridiculous. Look at the acne on his back, that wasn't there 10 years ago. He is juiced as a mother f**ker.

In a sport where you smash each other's face in for a living why even bother to test?

Roidersherk had a gas tank for 50 5 minute rounds then they take away his special lucozade and he could barley make it out of the 2nd.

They should just let them have at it would make for much better fights.

Because it is the fastest growing sport in the world. It is taking over almost every major sport in the world in terms of TV ratings and ticket sales and is hot on the heels of Football/Soccer.

It needs the legitimacy of of being a completely "drug free" sport if it is ever going to reach a more mainstream audience.

They test it to make it more legit to the wider public...they have enough trouble being sanctioned as it is. At least thats my opinion anyway.

I agree with Marc though - they should just let them go for it, the Sonnen/Silva fight was a war!!

UFC is sanctioned by the various Athletic Commissions so has to be tested.

MMA! Is not tested world wide, UCMMA have random blood tests as do a few other events that can afford the cost. Grass roots MMA events do not.

They shouldn't test in UFC and they should just eat each other

And then go for a beer afterwards!

Fighters have to abide by the rules as set out by the NSAC in the UFC. Many but not all smaller shows have adopted these rules and regulations set out to protectthe safety of fighters. Chemically enhanced training gives an athlete a large advantage in this sport and is normally massively frowned upon at the top level and it's come to me as a huge surprise that any athlete within the UFC would be allowed to compete whilst chemically enhanced.
Many smaller shows don't have the funding or the foresight to test their athletes and this has been the cause of much argument and debate in the past. Due to there being no formal governing body for the sport, rules must only meet the requirements of the location in which the events are held and in some cases this leads to roided up rednecks going at it hammer and tongs which for the most part leads to very one sided and unrealistic fights.
MMA practitioners are some of the most well rounded, highly trained and serious athletes in the world. If I were a coach and doing my job correctly, I'd want my fighter going in on a level playing field for both safety and accurateness of result.
As I said, I'm very surprised that hormone treatment has been allowed to happen! Especially at a high level like in the UFC.

I'd be very surprised if PED usage wasn't rampant in the UFC.
