Member 194, 3976 posts | It is always reassuring knowing you have friends who can supply porn at short notice, and also better than cricket.

It's a generous, though also somewhat disturbing offer. I notice Andy was able to work porn into his response, despite the fact that there was seemingly no possible connection. I have to applaud that.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, I think the context is crucial here.. after all I was just trying to answer the thread title! No worries about the slating, that comment was aimed at Olly and his 'I thought you were smarter than that' comment.. I guess even the best of us slip back into condescending-southern-public-schoolboy insults!! Lol, I wouldnt want to disappoint. I didnt go to a public school though, I learnt to be a c**t at grammar school.

Picca Boo Member 16, 1204 posts SQ 140, BP 130, DL 200470.0 kgs @ 77kgs UnEq | Thing with football is, people don't actually like watching football. They like watching their team. A football fan would enjoy watching any kind of football, even womens football, but they don't. I would say I am a weightlifting fan, and I enjoy watching say, Mishima, as much as Rezazadeh or Dimas. If you take away people who only watch their team, from football fans, you would end up with about 5 people

I am a bench-only guy Member 3, 10036 posts SQ 185, BP 175, DL 235595.0 kgs @ 140kgs UnEq Administrator | There's a lot of truth in that imo, Alex. Rob said: I'm getting slated here because I have different interpretation of what best is - I think it's what the majority think is the best. To be fair, I think you're being slated because (as Matt pointed out, quoting the actual definitions) "best" and "most popular" are not the same thing at all, and quality is not a democracy. If you want to talk about what the most popular sport in the world is then it almost certainly is association football, but then that won't be much of a thread. Anyway, on to the question. I have no particular allegiance to any team and so the tribalism that does seem to drive football enthusiasm passes me by, and (as with any sport) as a non-player it's hard to appreciate the subtleties. I find it pretty watchable on Match Of The Day where a game is cut down to the ten most interesting minutes, but at full length it bores me. Add to that the appalling behaviour of its players (on the pitch, I don't care what they do off it) and all too often fans, and the particularly unsavoury blatant acting in an attempt to have another player disciplined, and I'm REALLY not interested.
