Cheers lads. You know, the mind does weird things! Obviously I didn't lift yesterday, but this morning my body felt like I had! And I was still shattered tonight! Clearly I was with all the lifters in spirit yesterday. So I've got to be pleased with what I managed to do tonight.

On the Moz front, the lad's been working night shifts for years, and he's recently got a new job that's basically 9 to 5 with the occasional call out, and I think settling in to a normal time routine has really helped his lifting. Couldn't believe what I was seeing, and I guarantee you that when he did the 170 there was quite a bit to spare. Awesome.

Should have added that I boil washed my loose 46 F6 yesterday. Tried it on at the end of the session (didn't lift in it) and it was definitely tighter and more supportive than before. I'll have a play with it next Monday if Bradford goes well. I'm still hankering after that 191 before the end of the year, even unofficially, so the Sugden Christmas Meet might have an extra attendee, but I won't confirm till next Tuesday if that's ok. Maybe Moz will come along and try a 200 as well. I'll ask.

Nice one Martin. Say hi to Moz for me and tell him not to get to good on the old bench press, it's my worst lift!

Tonight's session. Just winding down towards Saturday now.

Dips Machine - 10 plates for 10; 12 for 10; 15 for 10; 18 for 8; 20 (bottom peg) for 5.
Facepulls - 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 plates for 10.
Triceps Pressdowns - 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 (bottom peg) for 10

35 minutes cardio for 547 calories output.

Not exactly a mega session, but the rest of this week is just about tickover. Pleased with the cardio. Didn't do any last week and 547 is pretty good. I reckon anything over about 520 is a good cardio session. Hadn't done facepulls for a couple of weeks. Felt a little tweak in the rear of my right shoulder a couple of weeks ago which I think was caused by going too heavy on the shoulder horn, so just left rear delts alone for a fortnight and all seemed well tonight.

A few people have been asking me about how I set up my bands on the bench, so tonight I took a few photos and posted them on my blog - http://martinsgoldenblog.blogspot.com .

Thanks for the band set up pictures on your excellent blog site.
Two questions 1 How long are these bands?
2 Where do you get them?
Have visited Pullum and others and the bands on offer seem too short.6ft bands were available on a US site.
Or do you tie them together?
Thanks

Hi Silver. The purple band, when laid out, measures approximately 38 inches. It is a continuous loop, so maybe it's a 76 inch! Don't know how they measure these things. Maybe it's meant to be 1 metre/2 metres. I got the bands off Larry Miller at the IPFs in Germany. I don't know where he got them from, but there's some writing on them if it helps - JUMP STRETCH, INC. - 1-800-344-3539. Hope that helps.

I think you'd be fine with 6 foot bands if that refers to the loop diameter, but if it refers to the laid out doubled measurement they'd be far too big.

You don't tie them together btw. Just loop them next to each other. Lay the bar on the bench, loop the band(s) over one end of the bar, pass the band under the bench, loop it over the other side of the bar, then rerack the bar and adjust the bands. (You'll need someone sitting on the bench when you rerack!)

As I said on the blog, several gentle bands are better than one strong band because you get more set up options that way. I might go for a one purple band single pb at the Christmas meet! Not tried that before. Might be interesting!

Thanks for the kind words about the blog. Some heavy stuff on there (no pun intended), I'm afraid, but also some nice pictures.

Just googled them and found them on http://www.jumpstretch.com/ . There you go!

I'd go for two light bands (purples) one mini band (pink) and one monster mini (black) and that will give you more than enough tension and loads of different resistance options.

Moz equalled my PB raw bench so it would be a great end to a great year for him if he nailed the 200, and even better would be the golden leotard, filled by 100kg of flett benching too !!

I guess you can because the website gives details of a UK Supplier. But he's got to make a profit, so I reckon it'd be cheaper to buy direct from the states.

Tonight's workout. As planned - 10 competition singles. Not as planned - singles with 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145. All good reps, all paused, all flew up with plenty of speed. Went up to my opener, when I intended to do them all with 100! What the hell? Everything was easy.

With the possible exception of some cardio, that's it till Saturday. Was three pounds under the limit post piss, pre dump this morning, so no panics there.
