I have not been doing any weights just a bit of rowing in 5 weeks I have transformed from a skinny fat unfit drunken old man into a slighty fitter skinny fat not quite so drunk old man a couple of weeks back I hit 1.44.8 for 500m on the ski erg (faster than Boar)

today I did a 2k on the rower 7.23.4 my target was under 7.30 now i'm dreaming of going sub 7 again.
(what did Steve Redgrave say?)

deffo faster than me , I'm scared of 'going hard' as it might f**k up my rapidly declining body

and 7:20 is well within striking distance of sub 7 !!!

I also have to bear in mnd i am responsible for a young person at the gym where I use the ski erg so have to mindful of not dieing and being fit to drive them home afterwards

I have a new chest strap and will be training heart rate bands from this day forth the first 2k I burned up the last 500m and hit 175bpm and didnt feel like death so im guessing there are few more beats left in me.

2k 7.53.5 pretty happy with that I think with a proper warm up and nobody else to consider Boartime will be smokedWink (7.44ish?)

2000m 7.20.3 a story behind this... a warm up for a 500 turned into a hard 2k first half 3.45 ( with a close to HD) second half 3.35 if my balls were big enough 7.15 would be achievable.

If you have never done a truely max effort 2k you can not understand the FEAR

SUB 7 still a goal but at the moment a distant one

Ive been ticking over on the row erg and even done some mighty trap bar deads upto 100x4 bench has suffered a bit from the rowing

today I did a 30minute hard effort on the erg and managed 7532m five years ago that would of been a stroll.....not so much today but so much better than 2 months ago.

use it or lose it!

I think my very darkest moments (in training/sport) have been during rowing sessions / 2km races and i remember one training session of 4 x `1000m 2r where i had to do all 4 reps under 3:30 , that last 1000m rep i had to drag from hell !!

amazing what we can force ourselves to do if we have a target we dont want to miss

I have been struggling with the 2k fear, twice this week I headed out with intentions of a max effort 2k did the warm up then bottled it.....I probably need to do some 90% efforts first regain some confidence.

Weeks highs

Squat 40x2
Bench 120x2
Narrow Sumo 150x1
Powerclean 50x1
Row erg 500m 1.34

Pretty happy with that front loaded and hung on, the last 200m was yukky
I followed it up with what I am calling 10/5/20...Set the time for 10minutes 5 hard pulls followed by 20 "tickover" repeat repeat repeat

I have rowed a minimum of 10k every day of March so far did 500m 1.44.8 @ 20spm piss weak so need to get my legs and back stronger.
