mikecm | Natural strength potential | 11-08-2018 @ 21:40
Member 6297, 99 posts | Evening all, I'm looking for some honest opinions from those who have experienced both the natural and assisted sides of lifting. What do you think, aside from the obvious genetic freaks, is the limit of natural strength for say a 90-100kg bloke? Let's look at powerlifting for ease of reference. Obviously on here we have tested and non-tested athletes, and several who will have experienced both sides, so very keen to hear opinions. I normally sit around 100kg - do we think a say 220/150/250 would be attainable without drugs? Keen to hear thoughts... (honest ones!)

Member 3757, 1746 posts SQ 202.5, BP 110, DL 255567.5 kgs @ 82kgs UnEq | I’m lifetime drug free and have done 202.5/110/255 @83kg in gbpf. I’ve had loads of lower back and shoulder injuries which still hold me back but I believe I can still get to say 250/140/280 one day. I don’t see why for a perfectly healthy person a 700+ total @83 naturally is achievable.

You’re looking 250/150/300 - those would be decent in gpc with deadlift bar, mono, wraps and no testing

some nice relaxing jazz. Member 77, 12599 posts SQ 265, BP 165, DL 280710.0 kgs @ 93kgs UnEq | I reckon in the 800s at 90-93. Obviously more as you go upwards from that weight.

Are you talking equipped? The classic record in gbpf is 787.5kg at 93 (sion hughes) 800kg at any body weight natty+raw is a pretty big total - trained with a lot of ipfers and the vast majority fall in the high 400s lightest weights up to low 700s 110,125 guys.

Yes raw/classic. You've got to be on the right end of the 'bell curve' and training to be nailed etc(which few people can do), but certain think 800 odd is possible natural at 90ish.

Mask it or Casket !! Member 4600, 8166 posts SQ 240, BP 162.5, DL 255657.5 kgs @ 90.5kgs UnEq | I managed 240/162/255 drug free...if Id started younger and not got so injured Id guess 250/180/300??? Look at olympic lifters and other than cleans and snatches what they can potentially do natty at sub 90k...moreover, 260 squat piss easy.

Member 5141, 4220 posts SQ 300, BP 180, DL 350830.0 kgs @ 130kgs UnEq | I got well over 700kg natural at around 110bw, without ever focusing on powerlifting. Assuming you've a decent work ethic your targets are entirely attainable with a couple of years training.

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22073 posts | 93hopkinsonr said: Very attainable Very. I achieved bigger numbers at u100 natural with a very lax/lazy training style, with almost zilch bench training and very minimal DL training.

Member 6297, 99 posts | Thanks a lot for your replies guys. It is always interesting to hear first hand from those who have done the natural and non-tested routes... I wonder to those who changed, when they judged the time was right? From my side, it is mainly a case of consistency of training. To be able to maintain 3/4 times a week with steady progress and no injuries is always a challenge. My lifts are down on what they were: probably looking at about a 155 squat (bad knee...)/130 bench/180 dead at the moment. I did a disc in my back a few months ago and it is taking a bit of shaking the mental doubts to push the deads.
