If you can pick a bar up that's that heavy and put it on your shoulders you'll do for me Cheers Phillip. It's recorded, but it's very s**t technique and i always get stick for it. I usually go light now because the wide legs and bad catches are embarrassing.

Edwards 500lb squats are most likely the shallowest of movements. There's a triple jumper who might beat the WR soon who has a 310kgx3 squat video on youtube who shows a typical athete squat, Teddy Tamgho. Also a world class female long jumper has a 210kg 'squat' video somewhere out there. It's on a smith machine and very shallow movement. This cyclist goes deeper than any athlete i've seen. I never see big strong throwers though in these training camps, where they hide? I would tend to agree with this. I've actually seen an elite thrower train week in week out for about a year whilst he was in Oxford doing some sort of exchange programme with the university. Big, tall team USA thrower. Never asked his weight but eyeballing him, I'd say 140-150kg. He was very good at power cleans and little else. He'd squat highbar and all the way down, but a few reps with 200kg would really test him. His bench form was shocking and he'd bounce 140 off his chest for sloppy reps. His deadlift was weak for his size. His throwing though, was exquisite.

Now the depth may not have been IPF, but it was pretty good, and obviously he can pass a drug test or two. Basically what I'm thinking is, especially at lighter bodyweights, would proper athletes destroy powerlifting wrs if they weren't busy making money and being popular. The dude was called John Paul, but I'm on my phone and don't know how to link the vid I have no idea what was being shown, but I had a conversation with Shanaze Reade once (the Olymic BMX competitor). She stated that Chris Hoy squatted 200kg, which was considered impressive. Probably because it is,all things considered. I can't comment on the video you've seen, but I'd take that as a better yardstick, and indication of what a proper athlete can do.

I saw him on a TV thing doing a double bodyweight clean. It was pretty good, but then you'd expect him to be explosive, quick and coordinated - that's pretty damn important for triple jump!

The only thing I would say is that many throwers use 'shocking' form on the bench press on purpose - they are called Bounce Presses.

There was one thrower manuel martinez if im right who bounced 300kg on the bench press but hat a little foam on his chest.
