Glenn Pendlay recommends for getting lifters bodyfat down without burning them out or affecting strength; 5 mins clean and jerk or snatch with kettlebells, but seeing as the gym doesn't have any kettlebells I'll probably do empty bar clean and press for 5 mins or something, see where I get with that. | ||

Overhead Squat 20kg 2x5 30kg 3x5 Squat 30kg x5 60kg x5 100kg x3 140kg 2x3 180kg x3 145kg 4x3 Bench Press 20kg 2x5 40kg x5 60kg x3 80kg x2 90kg x3 72.5kg 5x3 Smolov Jr has definitely improved my conditioning. The 72.5kg 5x3 took less that 10 mins, and I was able to do it without my wrist wraps. Pull up bodyweight 3x4 Parallel grip pulldown 20kg x10 40kg x10 Ran out of time then, would have done more pulldowns, cable rows and curls but seeing as the buses were late and traffic was bad I had to cut short a little. Still, got in mostly what I wanted to do. | ||

Really need to get dropping the bar back to my shoulders sorted because I dropped it on my neck once today. Squat 32.5kg x5 60kg x5 100kg x3 147.5kg 5x5 Pretty routine, trying to sit back a little bit more to open up the angle between calf and hamstring a bit, and keep my knees from tracking forward in the bottom of the squat. Bench 20kg 2x5 40kg x5 60kg x3 70kg x2 82.5kg 5x5 Happy with these. Kit says I'm handling the weight with more confidence now, which is good. After my third working set a man in meggings asked me how many sets I had left. I said '2' and then pointed out the empty bench less than 6 feet away. It seems he has a favourite bench and bar to work on, but I like to think he was jsut taking an interest in my training. Pendlay Rows 20kg x8 60kg x8 80kg 3x8 Thought I'd work in a more 'explosive' pull seeing as a slow cadence row is programmed in with the chest supported row on a Tuesday. At a team session I use the axle for these and a fast row is necessary because I can't hold onto the axle long enough for a slower row, so subbing in the Pendlay row for the standard bent over row when I'm sans axle makes sense. To me at least. Pullup Just 1, for funsies. Bent Over Dumbbell Bench Supported Fat Grip Rows 12kg x10 22kg 3x10 Grip seems to be coming along nicely. | ||

Sunday Volume day, Tuesday Light Day and Friday Intensity day. Difference between weight isn't really much but it'll help me get the weight on the bar up easier. Squat 22.5kg x5 60kg x5 100kg x3 140kg x2 160kg x1 190kg x1 152.5kg 5x2 Very happy with the single. Still a bit of work to do with not letting my knees travel forwards in the bottom of the squat, and keeping the weight over the midfoot. Fixing one will help fix the other. Bench Press 15kg x15 20kg 2x5 40kg x5 60kg x3 80kg x2 102.5kg x1 paused PB 82.5kg 4x3 Warmed up with the women's bar until another bar became free. Bar speed on the single was great. Felt very confident with it. Chest Supported T-Bar Row x10 +10kg x10 +22.5kg 5x10 Face Pull 5kg 5x10 Barbell Curl 20kg x10 22.5kg 3x10 Pull Up Bodyweight x2 Twice as fun. | ||

Not feeling any weaker - all good so far. Overhead Press 20kg 2x5 30kg x5 40kg x3 50kg x2 62.5kg 3x3 No shoulder pain, left bicep/elbow complaining a little bit but nothing major. Dumbbell Incline Bench Press 12kg x10 17kg x10 24kg 4x10, 1x9 Missed the last rep but I probably should have rested a bit longer before my last set. Deadlift 60kg x5 100kg x5 140kg x3 162kg 4x4 185kg x2 207.5kg x2 Double PB 162kg x8 Second rep felt like it took about an hour to lock out at 207.5kg. Bar speed up to mid thigh good though, happy enough with that. RIPPED THE SAME f**kING CALLUS AGAIN though, on the last set. Not enough time or inclination to do any ab work today. | ||

Looks to be more of a piriformis/glute issue now. Stretching helps but it starts to tighten up again. Bench Press 20kg 2x5 40kg x5 60kg x3 80kg 2x2 105kg x1 85kg 5x3 First warmup set of 80kg I did without wrist wraps - had a wobble at the very bottom of the decent on rep 1 and briefly dropped the bar on myself. Good job I'd got a decent bellyful of air! Chest Supported Row +20kg x8 +25kg 3x8 Superset with Pull Ups Pull Ups Bodyweight x 4,3,2,2 Superset with Chest Sup Rows Barbell Curl 20kg x8 20kg (fat bar) 2x10 Nicked Kits bar for the first set, behaved myself and got the fat bar afterwards.
