With my first set of 110kg I wasn't tight enough, when I tried again John told me to go for a 3rd rep based off the bar speed but I touched too low and lost my groove. Next 2 sets were nice and snappy. Really need to work on my consistency with bench!

Felt absolutely s**t before training, very tired and a bit nauseous. Light on squat today because I plan on going heavy tomorrow.

Hit 80kg once with a shaky lockout, tried again after a huff on the Nose Tork and locked it out for a solid 3 seconds. Planned to rep out on 60kg and expected maybe 6 but it kept going up! Felt very solid and held my brace really well. So happy with this considering how I felt walking in to the gym today. Pain free for most reps which bodes well for the shoulder.

Then did some paused low cable rows and face pulls.

This was meant to be 210kg 3x3 today, the first set moved slower than I wanted to and on the second rep of the second set I tried a faster descent to catch more stretch reflex and just bottomed out, lost all tightness and positioning. Bailed out from under the bar, though not particularly quickly and the bar more rolled down my back than fell the 2 inches to the pins. Doesn't seem to be any lasting damage though.

Unfamiliar spotters, happy with this though, felt quite easy. Purchased some none slip shelf liner to put on the bench to make it grippy like comp bench and managed to maintain tightness for the whole set.

Super happy with bench. With a familiar spotter I should be able to turn that 120kg into a paused 2nd attempt I think by the time comp comes around.

Then did some single arm cable rows, focussing on scapula ROM and a pause at the chest.

Technically I locked out the 70kg, did a belly dance and then dropped the bar a bit. Luckily it was controlled, the safeties were set high and the bar didn't bend on the safety pins. 80kg for a double is very nearly there, Beardy John couldn't understand why I didn't get it. At this point I think it's a case of technique (in particular my ability to brace) catching up with my strength.

Then did some chest supported rows and some occluded curls.

Attended a coaching clinic at the YNEPF powerlifting development conference yesterday. Got some quality coaching from some of the best masters and past lifters in the country. I've been encouraged to slow down my squat and sit back into it more, with a bit more forward lean. This should get my posterior chain into it a bit more and allow me a larger margin of error when grinding a heavy weight. With regards to bench, Fred Sterry told me to use max legal grip to lower ROM and make use of my 'Deep Chest'. I'll work up to this slowly, given my shoulder has only recently started working properly. Today I managed to work my grip out about a cm, little fingers on the ring.

No idea what happened on set 3, I just felt very weak and that failure was imminent if I kept going. Maybe loose setup, or rushing into the set.
