nice liftin' on the 17th. The sets of 175kg look brutal!

Yeah, it is hard work, no doubt about that! Doesn't stop at 175 though...

20/5/07

Squat
70x5, 100x5, 120x5, 135x5x8

Bench Press
60x4, 80x3, 95x3, 105x2, 115x3x5, 105x6x4

Deadlift
70x5, 110x5, 150x3, 180x5x7

Good workout. The squats felt a bit s**t at first but quickly improved and the eighth set was the best one. Tongue

Bench was good too - did an extra set on the touch and go 6s because the moronic spotter helped when he needn't have on the first set. Had the more reliable big49ersfan - who I met for the first time - for the rest of them.

Deadlifts also felt good - all round the easiest workout for quite some time. Although big49ersfan did say I looked f**ked all the same. Tongue

I'm wondering whether it was the same moronic t**t that took it upon himself to assist me on my first rep of the set the other day. Or the other t**t that "assisted" adam, (on one side of the bar only!), when he randomly decided to jump in and spot whilst walking past - despite not even being needed. What is it with sugden and crap interferring spotters? It really is bad Angry Angry Angry

I don't think there's any point calling people at Sugden t**ts or whatever for spotting badly. The gym is full of people that are clueless about lifting in general. If you want reliable spotting then you have to make the effort to go to a proper gym.

Nice deadlifting JT.

Some rather vituperative comments there Rob! Are we who train at Sugden not really making an effort then? Tongue

I think it's understandable that some people identify spotting with "helping me do 4 more reps than I can do by myself" because that's all they've ever seen other people do. What pisses me off is when you say quite clearly that you want no help at all unless you're definitely going to fail the rep, and then they jump in anyway when you're clearly in no trouble at all. And, of course, the "helpful" people Jo points out who interfere when you having even spoken to them.

Just hopped on the (perhaps a little unreliable) scales at home and I seem to be around 97.5kg...

Well asking someone not to spot you unless you're going to definitely fail is open to all sorts of interpretation - people who just go to Sugden to pump a few reps out have no idea what even a slightly difficult rep looks like for a powerlifter, so will often be too eager.

As for people walking around and getting in the way or jumping in, you have to expect things like that to happen when you are, lets face it, training in an environment full of gym idiots.

Good work on the weight gain, careful you don't end up in the 110s now Wink Just popped on myself - 102 kilos so probably not far off 100 in morning.

102 already is good work! What's the regimen been - just diet?

You're right about the gain; I don't want to go up too quickly. I can't imagine that'll happen really, given how hard it usually is to gain muscle (and I don't apper to have put on any fat). Probably down to 96 in the morning...

Yea just keep an eye on it, it's weird how weight can pile on even when you're not expecting it (and with the heavier weights + volume on Korte I guess there's a lot of potential to add a good few kilos of muscle). I'm sure you'll be fine though.

Yea just a very strict diet so far, not had one bad thing since the comp, just keeping the protein high and playing the carbs by ear. Will need to start getting into the cardio soon when the fat loss inevitably slows down.

Yeah, that's the idea with the Korte - got to be good for a bit of muscle gain. I didn't put any on the first time round but I think I must have not been eating enough. Just ordered some more BCAAs (well, L-leucine this time) off myprotein...

Good log Tokar. Tough work though! There's bits of me aching reading all that full sq/bp/dl work Tongue

As for idiot spotters lest not forget the fools that let your struggle for several minutes ranting on about how 'you've got it'. Despite the fact that on leg is of the ground, your arse is in the air and your shoudlers are rolling of one side of the bench!!

I've very rarely had people jump in and help unwanted, but I might be slightly scarier than you guys (at first sight). I always tell bench spotters not to touch the bar *unless I tell them to*.

Rob's subtle campaign to get us all to Adders continues Happy.
