I was asking a question Luke. The retort "no s**t" doesn't work in this context.

People from Grimsby use it in that context, and many additional contexts

Don't see why not,

There was an NFL running back (Napoleon Kaufman x Raider) who benched 420, that's 190kg give or take, at about 85kg bodyweight. what impressed me more was that he could also run a 4.22 40yrd dash. Most natural sprinters, fast people who work out tend to get pretty strong and powerful while remaining pretty lean in my experience.

Why?

Just because it's fairly specialised strength. I wouldn't think he'd have the time or inclination to practice.

Professional union/league players I know bench(ed) AT LEAST once a week

When I played we gymmed 4 times per week (5 in off season). Sessions were based around push pull, 2 upper and 2 lower. Each upper day consisted of two bench movements per day, so 4 a week in total. Its all about that hand off strength and in league the ability to push ones self up off the floor quickly to optimize the speed of the play the ball.

So yes JC, you are correct Grin bench is very neccessary!

Also, seeing some of the numbers pressed my numerous rugby (both codes) professionals, this is VERY beleivable!

Recognition vocabulary versus active vocabulary. Billy maybe his dad threw him in the corner and fed him with a fast twitch slingshot

My cousin did an s+c internship at a top union club and reckoned a lot of them ( including England internationals) were lazy arses in in the gym. Bench and biceps and out. He also told me that in terms of strength most were above average but not anything special.

I believe it.

I have trained with a 90kg bodybuilder that managed 140x10, 160x4 and then 180x1 on bench. His form was strict touch and go. He is a pure bodybuilder with no interest in strength at all.

I have no doubt a rugby player that focuses on power and speed as part of his training could do the same, if not a little more.

To my knowledge there is no video or proof other than the word of his teammates (it happened during team bench press testing a few years ago).

Do you think this is believable?

How do we know he's not a half-rep Harry with his "bro" doing shrugs at the same time whilst saying "it's all you, it's all you".

Is that not a contradiction of terms? If he's an unbelievable athlete, he wouldn't be believable. If his feat of strength is believable, he'll be a believable athlete.
