I must live under a rock but I've heard that Mayweather and Mcgregor are to fight in August.
What do you guys think of that? Who will win? My instant thoughts are that Mcgregor may come unstuck fighting boxing only but having said that if Mcgregor can adjust to boxing why couldn't he beat Mayweather.

Lol...
Mayweather wins every minute of every round and probably knocks Mcgreggor out despite not being a KO artist.
Complete and utter shut out.

This!

I can't believe that anyone would even think McGregor has a chance against arguably the best boxer of all time. It'll be ridiculously one sided.

Why couldn't he beat Mayweather??

Floyd is one of the greatest pugilists to ever live. Conor can throw his hands well in MMA, but that's different than facing someone like Floyd.

Floyd humiliates him, but both guys make a fortune!

lets get it straight here anyone has a chance in boxing as one clean punch can do alot of damage.

Saying that mayweather is going to make a mockery of mcgregor imo and dance round him and frustrate him!
Mayweather wouldn't take this as his 50th fight if he thought there was any way he will lose.
Not a fan of either (not saying that they are not the best at what they do) but it will be a massive event that i will be a mug and pay to watch.

Maywether on points if you ask me but like i said its boxing and anything could happen.

it will be like the rugby league game of the wigan RLFC v Bath RUFC cross code challenge in 1996 - a complete massacre.

I know people say that anything can happen in boxing but the fact that "anything" hasn't happened to Mayweather in 49 fights means it highly, HIGHLY, unlikely to happen in the 50th.

McGregor has done what he needs to do in this fight and that's talk it up to monumental proportions to secure his family's financial future for the next 1,000 years.

That is actually a very fair comparison!

I think it will be a lot different than most do. The first thing people are misunderstanding is that conor has never boxed, as he has done a lot of boxing. He does have an amateur boxing background and he has been doing boxing for a decade as part of his mma training. This doesn't mean he does stand up in a cage it means going to a boxing only gym and doing boxing like anybody else. That's how it often works with mma, you do bjj one day, wrestling another, boxing another etc At high level mma, they will often bring in national champions, world champions, olympic medalists etc they do that in each sport, so In other words conor has boxed with high level boxers, he understand what he's in for.

Another reason is the physical side. Conor is really in a different weight class than Floyd, he will probably out weigh him by a stone at the least and is simply a much bigger person. The other thing is he's in his prime, Floyd is a retired 40 year old.

The final reason is conor has extremely powerful punches, and I've never seen a striker in ufc as accurate, or as fast as conor with the hands. He is pin point, and in his last fight he managed to land 3 times before his opponent hit the ground, that's fast. I don't think Floyd will have the speed advantage he assumes he will, and I think conor will hit him a lot more than he expects (which is probably zero).

Saying all that, Nate Diaz managed to rock Conor in the first fight, so I don't know how good his chin is, plus he got tired. Yes he had jumped up 25lbs to fight him in a short time and that obviously was a big reason for gassing (why he lost) but to go 12 rounds with Floyd you have to be very fit. I also think it's harder to knock floyd out than most realise if you do land a punch. People seem to think he never gets hit but he sure as f**k has been, mainly by southpaws like conor is, and dude can take a shot, he has a great chin. Do i think he can take conors power though? No, i think he hits too hard, too accurately, and will get knocked out by a straight left.

Do you think McGregor hits harder than Mosley with 10 ounce gloves? No chance!

Maidana, Canelo, Pac all hit at least as hard as McGregor with 10oz gloves, probably harder.

Mayweather has fought bigger hitters, faster hitters, has 49-0 and rarely takes a single hit. He is one of the best all time boxers in history.

Mcgregor has a boxing record of 0-0.

Sums it up.
