Tonights training

Squats
10 x bar
5 x 60 kg
3 x 100 kg
2 x 120 kg
6 x 2 x 135 kg

Rope crunches, hyperextensions

8 weeks to go to the next comp which is the North Midlands Open. I've sorted out a routine from now until then which includes the masters russian squat routine and heavy doubles and triples for bench and deads with some assistance thrown in.
Tonight was the first night of the squat routine using 170 kg as my 1RM without subtracting the 20%.

Never mind about the Brits, at least you were there competing. Good luck with the Russian squat routine, it will be tough but i'm pretty sure it will reap results.

Cheers Bill, you're right of course, it's the first time of going to a comp that I had to qualify for so I should be happy with that - for now!
When I saw that there was exactly 8 weeks to the next comp it was a no brainer really.

In all honesty Ian I've seen the routine and I think it would work for me.
I've done a 5 3 1 and I liked that and I was thinking about avoiding singles for a while so I may adopt your routine through the Winter.

Pin/Rack Press

Tricep extensions. pressdowns

A supposedly easy target tonight of 3 x 110, far from easy.
Both shoulder joints are a little painful since Saturdays failed pressing, hopefully something minor but it didn't help tonight.

What's your plan with bench?

Saw you said you're going to be doing heavy triples and doubles, but how are you deciding the weights? Just whatever feels right on the day?

The plan is to alternate doubles and triples, obviously with the doubles being heavier than the triples, increasing the weight slightly each week until we get to the North Midlands.
E.g. tonight was 3 x 110, next week the plan is for 2 x 115, following week 3 x 112.5, week after 2 x 117.5 unless I fail.
After the North Midlands I'll look at changing the routine for something that will take me through to next spring.

Deads

3 x 180 kg
2 x 210 kg

Rows, pulldowns, curls.

Good session tonight, probably the best for a while, I'm eating more which is helping.
2 x 210 is as good as anything I've done before, target next week is 3 x 200.
