The bicep is a muscle, just like the quads and hams. Just as valid as max squat imo.

Back in Slough for a week, rejoined my old gym

Bench Press:

50 kg x 5
70 kg x 5
90 kg x 5
100 kg x 1
110 kg x 1

122.5 kg x 1 PB

Warm ups were feeling heavy. It didn't help that the bench I was using was designed by someone who couldn't even spell "powerlifting". Did all the warm ups without a spotter, and was pretty awkward unracking the bar from 6 inches behind my head. When I got to 122.5 it was a bit of a lottery as to which guy I would ask to spot me. None of the half dozen guys in the gym looked like they either knew or were capable of giving a spot, and no attendents in sight. Eventually found a chap as old as my father who I'd spoken to before in the changing rooms. He was an absolute gent and knew what he was doing, gave me a good hand off and let me fight the rep. Happy

Squat:

60 kg x 5
100 kg x 5
125 kg x 5
147.5 kg x 5

172.5 kg x 4 PB
180 kg x fail

Warm ups felt pleasant. Screamed on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rep, which helped. In hindsight I should have gone for a 5th rep. Loaded 180 after, intending to do 190 kg after that for a PB. Was fighting the sticking point on 180, and my shorts blew Unhappy decided to dump it rather than fight it.

Pull ups:

Couldn't really find anywhere decent to do them, tried using the gym's pull up / dip multi station, but it was designed for 10 stone twigs, rather than 16 stone fat asses. Used a smith machine in the end.

BW x 6,8,8

Curls

1 hour 15

Thanks, and thankfully there isn't.

Although I think I gave the other guys in the gym a chuckle! Just as well I went downstairs to do my curls!

Not been in for a while, but you're making some great progress. That 180 squat looked like cake!

I train at EasyGym on slough high street. It's cheap at £16 a month (although there is a £20 joining fee now!), and it has 1 squat rack (rarely used by anyone), 3 bench press stations, 5 barbells in total I think, DB's in 2kg increments up to 50 kg and 600 kg + of round plates.

It has everything you need to get strong, but no strongman equipment lol. Atmosphere isn't great either, mostly full of guys doing chest and biceps lol.

The Gallery huh? Haven't heard of that, sounds expensive though?

Todays training:

18" Deadlift:

70 kg x 5
120 kg x 5
170 kg x 5 doh
205 kg x 2 mixed grip, belt

237.5 kg x 4 fail 5 PB

Lost my straps recently, so did without today. 4 reps were comfortable enough, could have hitched the 5th if I had straps.

Power Clean:

50 kg x 3
70 kg x 2

Belt Cleans:

70 kg x 1
90 kg x 1
90 kg x 1
100 kg x 1
100 kg x 1
105 kg x 1 - Best one yet!
110 kg x fail
110 kg x 1

Used an oly bar for this, as don't have an axle here. Used mixed grip off the floor to simulate the axle. Axle definetly sits nicer on the stomach though!

Barbell Row:

70 kg x 6
90 kg x 6

Pendlay Row:

70 kg x 10 PB

1 hour 10

In the changing room's I spoke to the same gentleman that spotted my bench a couple of days ago. Turned out he had 6 daughters older than me, boxed semi-professionally, and lifted 190/260/170 for reps at 85 kg bw. Even showed my videos of his 260 x 4 deadlift- first time anyone at this gym has impressed me lol.
