Completely depends on what your actually doing in the job but for me it's great for grip and strongman too over most of the events but it hinders gym lifting events and certainly would hinder a powerlifter to work my job. There's no way to recover enough to train more than 2-3 times a week in the gym so you end up doing maybe 5 hours gym lifting, 55 hours strongman lifting. Obviously not all the 55 hours is lifting stuff but it's a lot more than what you can do in the gym.

Mentally demanding jobs I'd say would have more of a negative impact on training. Teaching/Nursing/Medical/Police. just my idea..

I have a sedentary job so help with recovery from PL training.

Agree with the point above, when I'm very busy and running about / stresses certainly has an impact on training energy and focus.

Guess that manual jobs would create a good base strength but maybe hamper the training volume and intensity for higher level lifters as the recovery may not be there. But suppose the manual work could help recovery and improve recovery capacity, can imagine it having less impact on strongman training than PL where the overall strength and conditioning would relate to the sport.

One issue I have is when I have lots of meeting or desk work may back issues certainly aren't help!!

Police checking in - very mentally taxing my job and stressful as hell but it doesn't have a negative impact on my training.

But then again in my position I'm lucky enough to not have to take my work home with me whereas I imagine you have work to mark, lessons to plan etc etc which I bet doesn't help

If nothing else, it just takes up valuable training time!

I deliver tiles and stone all day every day, all out the back of a van and into houses, it's absolutely brutal. And massively hinders any training I do.

Have an office and lab based job that is good for training.

Enough small lab tasks to keep me mobile during the day and not just sat down for eight straight hours. But nowhere near enough to be physically taxing. Other than when people grab me to lift things because they're heavy and I'm that strong guy.

Tbh other jobs are mentally demanding more than teaching imo.

Teaching sucks for training due to the amount of out of class prep time you have and marking etc.

The summer full of training will be sweet though.

Busy day changing engines and clutches definitely takes its toll on training and recovery times! On the flip side being a mechanic gives you a grip like a python!

At the height of my time as a strongman competitor work was crazy. I was doing a LOT of physical restraints and regularly working well into the early hours, sometimes having no sleep at all. The 2 aspects of my life didn't go together at all well Grin
