I think if your gonna do strongman or Oly lifting or any thing else that requires a lot of OH then do a lot of OH. if your PL then do a lot of bench. sports specific. btw Wes it was me that told you that. based on my own experiences.

I haven't seen many people stronger overhead with static movements than Tony Stevens was when he was at his best as a powerlifter (unequipped narrow grip benching in training over 225kg at 100kg).

I am talking of around 25 years ago and not overhead as in barbell press/jerk - Nowadyas he's not got the mobility (although I think his best clean & jerked was close to 180kg at 90kg bwt in the very distant past). He used to do overhead work on the old Unviversal multi gym. The strongest lifters around would manage approx 2/3 of the stack standing for a single - Tony would sit side on and do the whole stack for 10 reps one arm at a time.

No one believed him anyway. Member 958, 11411 posts SQ 410, BP 215, DL 4251050.0 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | I'd imagine not benching hinders bench press progress. I'd imagine doing both hinders neither. I'd imagine doing neither hinders both. If I leg press, will it hinder my lat pulldown...?

But, the guys who could only manage 2/3 of the stack for 1 rep with both arms couldn't have been "the strongest guys around"!! I've easily repped with the whole stack on shoulder press machines in the past (with both arms of course)!!
