I can squat mate but not heavy, can deadlift lightly I reckon? I've got some bands and was thinking of deadlifting with them friday to see how it goes. Yea i'll keep trying to do a bit of everything but all light speed/technique work.

Pressing with Mr Al -

Tonight Dawson Towers was blessed with the presence of Mr Al for a pressing session in the Ginger ones gym. Was looking forward to getting a good pressing session in to see how much the couple of weeks had effected my strength.


Strict Press -

Bar x loads
60kg x 8
80kg x 2
90kg x 1
Push press
100kg x 1
105kg x 1
115kg x 1

Was a lot better than expected. 115kg felt quick and snappy but dare not go any heavier!


Bench -

60kg x 12
100kg x 5
110kg x 2
120kg x 1
130kg x 1
140kg x 1

The 140kg was a struggle! Bench always goes to s**t if I stop training it for a couple of weeks.


Seated Overhead Press -

60kg x 3
80kg x 2
85kg x 2
90kg x 2
95kg x 2

All these felt good Grin


Really enjoyed that session, good to train with Mr Al as always and very happy with the way it went.

That's a good session. I'm pretty sure fast explosive push presses can only be a good thing.

Thanks bud. Hopefully so, my pressing strength hasn't depleted as much as I anticipated which can only be good I suppose.

Thanks Oxman! Felt like I am roughly the same pressing strength but bench is down thats for sure!

Monday 15th April 2013

Squats/Conditioning -

Had to go in a different direction with my training due to my glass back so no heavy squatting or deadlifting for the foreseeable future. Lighter weight, high rep conditioning s**t instead for me then! About time I got my fat arse into gear I suppose.

Squats -

Bar x loads
70kg x 15
90kg x 12
130kg x 1
130kg x 2
150kg x 6
130kg x 10
110kg x 2

Back was feeling a little tight so gave left the 110kg a miss, wanted to get 15 but i'll try again next week.


Boxing Pad work

3 rounds, 3 minutes each with 3 minutes rest.
All different combos of cross, jabs, hooks and uppercuts. Last round was a mix of 5 punches then either 5 press ups, star jumps, burpees, knee to chests.


f**k me did I under estimate how hard that was going to be! Was absolutely f**ked by the end of it but was fun punching the s**t out of something lol!


Kettlebell Tabata -

Kettlebell Snatches 20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest for 8 rounds swapping arms each round.


Tabata was quite hard but could have done with more weight. Absolutely shattered after that though! Enjoyed it, was good to find a different form of cardio. Will be mixing this sort of stuff along with barbell complexes, keg runs and going to try get myself a bike to get some steady state stuff in. Will continue to try press heavy to maintain strength but back is going to stop any sort of squatting/deads progress for awhile.

Nice work there mate, better you were shattered after that. Should see some good fat loss and big fitness gains. TBH that's what gave me an edge in that comp, we're pretty even, I was just that bit fitter. Are you still training events?

Cheers buddy i've got aches and pains everywhere after that lol! Feel better for it though. That's what i'm hoping for mate think fitness cost me in a couple of comps last year so is something I really need to work on. I am going to try but got to be careful and go light! You down for a session soon?

Too right, I'm desperate for another events session. Won't be this weekend but maybe next weekend. So many birthdays in April.
