In 1776 the American declaration of independence was signed in Philadelphia. This effectively put an end to the war and marked the exodus of the British.

However, the British want some pride back, so on behalf of the Queen of England and Team GB, I have challenged Lou Costa and Team America to fight for their independence once again Grin

On July the 3rd and 4th in Philadelphia, 5 British strongmen will take on 5 American strongmen for the title of MHP Liberty Classic champions.

Your country needs you!

I have been asked to act as captain for Team GB and gather a group of unstoppable lifters!

We are asking interested strongmen to register with myself so we can gauge interest before picking a team to travel across the Atlantic to show the yanks that things would be different in a battle today!

Proposed events are:
320lb axle press (clean once)
900lb superyoke and sled drag
Hummer deadlift for max
1000lb tyre flip
300-400 stone run

Accommadation and food for two nights will be provided, but it is likely that athletes will have to make their own way there, however if sponsors are forthcoming we will do our best to help subsidise flights.

The Liberty Classic has attracted crowds of thousands in past years, and this format of USA vs GB in the very city that independence was declared should be no different. The stones as the final event will be held in the baseball stadium after the game and fireworks in front of over 10 000 people!

We are hoping to get some civil war re enactors to guard the trophy (mostly to stop the yanks stealing it I expect) and are envisagong it being a real spectacle of a show! The intention is for this to be filmed for youtube / DVD and is going to be a great experience.

This is not aimed at established international athletes, but more at those who have made national level finals before and want to push on to the next level. I will be keeping a close eye on Lou as USA captain to ensure that he doesn't sneak in Jenkins or Shaw!

Interested athletes should register provisional interest in this thread, once all details are fully confirmed at the end of the month, we will start finalising details and athletes.

We will also be looking for GB sponsors for Team Kit and supplements in the build up to the event, and this will be getting a lot of coverage on Ironmind etc so it coukd be a really good investment!

But will they get the French Navy to do their dirty work? Or will the poltical will and learship of the UK strongmen fail. With many agreeing with the ideals of their colonial brothers?

lol does this even make sense?

900lb yoke? either youre saying you can do a 900kg yoke? or that a 420kg yoke is fine but not 900lbs

What i meant was they should make the comp so you could incorporate all 3 weight categories so its not just USA heavies vs GB heavies,

The MHP classic is an open heavy weight show, whether that may change in the future I don't know, but this is the first of it's kind and open it is I'm afraid.
