Steve | Is it necessary to cheat to get to the top in life? | 24-10-2012 @ 10:44
nothing to hide, please follow my life on webcam Member 255, 3732 posts | I find it surprising/disappointing how many people seem to think it is impossible to get to the top in sport without cheating and also how acceptable they think it is (everyone is doing it therefore it's OK) Do people think the only way to succeed in life in general nowadays is to cheat in someway or is it still possible to be successful through old fashioned hard work and dedication?

If it's breaking the f**king rules it's cheating, no ifs, no buts I don't care what anybody at WSM takes because there are no rules to break, I care that lance was doping because it was cheating

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5207 posts | Boxing and mma are two sports that need to seriously toughen their testing. If someone dies or gets seriously hurt and the guy that does it was caught doping, surely that would be manslaughter

It depends how you define getting to the top. Cheating is only cheating if there are rules to break, no rules = no cheating I guess. So for different parts of life the answer would surely be different, depending on what rules there might be

So for different parts of life the answer would surely be different, depending on what rules there might be I guess sport is a lot more straight forward because there is usully a clear set of rules. In real life as you say there are not always clear rules about what is wrong and right and it becomes more of a moral judgement. What some top business men do might strictly speaking be within the rules/law, but maybe well outside the lines of what most reasonable people consider morally correct.

Gone and easily forgotten....... Member 331, 22298 posts SQ 185, BP 100, DL 230515.0 kgs @ 85kgs UnEq | no and more often than not, this sort of question leads to diminishing returns simply by not putting the effort in because of the belief it won't make a difference compared to cheating.

Correct So, its much easier to define cheating in sport. I wonder if some of these things done in business for example, that are not cheating purely due to an absence of rules, would be morally less acceptible to some than cheating in sports? For what its worth, i would bet my house that more top level sports people cheat than dont, remember, cheating has thousands more forms than just PEDs
